I think he would benefit from playing on the right. Perhaps everything would feel a lot more natural for him. Alas, Kuyt usually plays there and does a fine job.
He wouldn't, he's braindead.

Besides, all the best wingers these days play on the non-natural flank.
Name them.

*Realises you are probably taking the piss*
Off the top of my head...

Messi
Robben
Ribery
Ronaldo

And some lesser lights...
Reyes
Simao
Young
Duff
Arshavin
N'Zogbia
Downing
Arteta

Do you want me to keep going?

Many of them interchange and swap flanks as the game goes on and don't play every game on their non natural side. Besides, I'm not against it as I said above.

My orignal point was that Babel might benefit on his natural side. Thats all. Who cares what other winger play where, this is a Ryan Babbel thread. He tends to slow up on the left knowing he needs to A) cut in or B) Use his left. I know he was deployed on the top of the left for Ajax before but it isn't really working for us. I'd hate to give up hope on him just yet but if someone offered 9-10million in the summer we'd have to say yes.

I think this picture kinda sums Babel up

Think of Neil Oncy, he can't fight Rafa's cause and Babel's. Busy day on the forum for him tomorrow.
plenty of wingers play on their actual wing as well Vicente, Lennon, Joaquin, Mata, Pederson, Riera, Menez, Bentley etc.
I also wouldnt class Messi, Ronaldo etc as wingers. I think its much of a muchness.

Pedersen is a random one to throw in there, Oncy.
No more than Downing. Anyway, im not arguing about it, many players do play on the opposite side, but many dont.

No I mean you mentioned a load of good, European, well known wingers and throw Pedersen in the middle of them. Just a bit of a no mark isn't he? Ho hum.

Yep its a non starter. Many interchange and swap flanks ala Simao and Reyes or Robben and Riberry. I don't have any problem with it either.

What's your opinion of our 18m quid right back Ryan?
Do you not rate him Sheik?

Lolz at Rosco.
As a right back? Do I fuck. He's crap.
Agree 100% spunking 18M on a player who isn't even suited to the position you need filling when we have gaping holes all over the pitch.

Another masterstorke from Rafa.

Babel is wank, always was, always will be. People have been in love with the player they think he could become, not the waste of space he actually is. He'll never be good.

I went to a charity match once with Harvey out of So Solid Crew playing on the wing. If his shot was slightly harder, he would probably be better than Babel. Altho, who was the best rapper would be debatable.

I can't believe we turned down nearly 10 mil for the fucker. He ain't worth a bean.

I think I've given it before Sheik, I like him.

He's patently a good footballer. He can significantly improve the defnsive part of his game (getting caught the wrong side of Reyes tonight for their goal being a prime example), and should do by playing alongside the likes of Carra, Agger, Masher etc over the next year or two. There's significant upside to him, there's zero with Babel. That's the difference.
At 25 years of age and having played at the top level for six or seven years now surely the defensive side of his game shouldnt need significant improvement. He's talented alright but unfortunately for a right back he's not a very good defender.

I like his new attitude, but he's still got to go this summer.
Sigh. I thought Babel would do well for us if we play a 4-3-3.

Can we swap him for Ashley Young?

So did i mate.

I never wanted us to sell him to another Prem team either, but now i couldn't care less where he ends up next.

Johnson just looks lost on the pitch half the time. His defensive positioning is truly woeful.

He would be perfect though if we reverted to the good old days of 'wingbacks'

It is strange that Rafa would rather play El Zhar, who has barely played this season, in the semi final of anything, over Riera, who was a significant part of a much better team last year.

I get that Riera was a cunt with what he said, and I even get that he isn't that great, but it frustrated the hell out of me, from the beginning of the season to the end, watching a squad devoid of all quality not include even one decent player.
it shows the pettiness of rafa. We have a solid left winger and he refuses to forgive him. Babel said things consistently for 2 years and rafa forgave him. Riera may have been a cunt, but at least he might make a difference
We should give El Zhar away as a free gift in a box of cereal

The tragic thing is Spider compares his posting style to our Babel's playing ability.

I liken your posting style to insua's playing ability
