I already knew that. Why do you think I was so sure that he would join us? I have a journo friend that work at Kicker so I get some inside info sometimes. The move isn't dead. Not even close to be dead. His agent wanted him to move to Dortmund on a free next summer. I don't have a clue about why but he would probably earn more money that way.

I think it's quite possible Gotze will end up at United or some other English team. Bayern's latest statement is a clear "if you think you are going to have more than a bit-part role here, think again" message. So I think he will be off eventually, but not to us. This makes the EL final loss sting even more (because most likely us not being in Europe was the deal-breaker), but on the other hand I don't like players with this attitude. If playing for Liverpool is not big enough draw for you, even at a low point of your career, go somewhere else and see how that works out.

Or he may just want to keep his options open till August. He maybe thinking a couple of impressive performances in the Euros and he may have more options to choose from. Or Juve might have told him hang in there until they make a bid. Cannot blame him if he decides to take the summer to make the decision.

Probably takes a bit of time to sort everything out when you change agent. The new agent must move every personal sponsorship deal Götze have for example. When you sign a player you must also sort out every sponsorship deal the player have.

Well considering we had agreed a fee, I'd suggest the only reason they'd lower the fee is because they want to tempt another Champions League side with less money to come in for him, someone like say, Borussia Dortmund.

According to Kicker it's more like Götze himself pulled the trigger on the deal. His agent had the deal with us tied up already when the player decided not to move here because we lost the final and won't be in Europe next season. He then fired his agent and told the press he wants to stay at Bayern - he wants European football but is afraid to move to Dortmund.

Bayern are pissed off because they want to get rid - Chairman Rummenigge even officially said so. Götze obviously thinks he'll play a fantastic Euro and will then move somewhere else.

I meanwhile hope he pulls his hamstring and sits on Bayern's bench for another year, the fucking whopper.

I presume Gotze was all like, "yeah I'll join, no hassle Jurgen, can't wait", expecting us to win the EL final. But we lost so Gotze is now like, "Nah, you're alright, I'll wait and see if a CL club comes in for me after the European Championships".

I'd say move on. I'll doubt we'll get him now unless Bayern tries to force his hand into a move to us. I doubt they'll need to. A decent team will come in for him, Bayern will get a fee and won't lose him for nothing next season and Gotze will get his CL football. This is all guesswork btw. I don't have contacts like Arn.

I don't think it had anything to do with Klopp.

We made a bid and got in touch with his agent, had the deal tied up - player pulls the plug.

If, and that's the point, we'd come back and still tried to sign him, then it would be hot air.

I don't get all the faux outrage when a player decides against this club as if it's somehow a question of attitude than logic.

There's plenty of sense in him turning down a club that finished eighth in the league and out of Europe in the hope a better club come in for him, especially whilst Bayern keep putting him up for reasonable fees.

I'd Klopp wants him I hope we get him.
