£30m was spent by the Americans, this season alone. We are third highest spending club since 2002, with no title to show for it. We have had succession of managers squandering millions on very average to shit players. Not being to be able to sign a striker might actually galvanise the team. I'm very excited by the German Turk, he looks like real prospect and might gain some first team opportunities now (others may feel the same too). I sincerely believe we are laying the foundations similar to what SAF did 22-23 years ago.

I've said for ages we shouldn't be thinking about this season with our deals, we should be thinking longer term.

We have done. Yeah we're a bit short handed this year but we haven't signed any Aquilani/Downing/Cole that are going to kill us for years.

It's just sad that it had the potential to great, and as per we fucked ourselves up to leave ourselves once again on the back foot. As said elsewhere, it smacks of one step forward, two steps back. There was no opportunism, we paid £15m for a quality player and showed ambition in doing so, but then forget to address the aching problem that was imperative as soon as the season was over.

We still have Downing, Cole and Carroll on our books.. The fact we have them is probably what killed is this transfer window

Its great to see people who praised last summer's transfer window bricking it about this one.

Joke aside, I agree with Ross. This is just one step in process. The sooner you all get trophies and CL football out of your heads the better.

I certainly didn't praise last years transfer window and the idea of not having ambitions of trophies and CL football is ridiculous. I agree Rodgers has overall done well in this window but we've weakened not strengthened an area that was our major flaw last year. Its that single point which is bafflingly stupid.

Bit rich from someone with zero patience who'll be slating us after the next defeat.
Of course Im gonna slate the team if we lose, it's not like Im gonna praise them.
Anyway, we've got Sahin, Assaidi and Allen. What is there to be gloomy about?

Then you've just contradicted yourself big time. You're telling us to lower our aspirations, which demands some degree of patience and perspective.

However we put it, our actions with Carroll were stupid and unprofessional. He's already looking great for West Ham. We have Suarez or Borini - Suarez gets booked a lot, Borini is new and nowhere near as good as Carroll.
I'm looking forward to January 30 when we send Agger and Skrtel out on loan to Sunderland and then wisely refuse to be held to ransom on Jan 31st and seettle for Cooates and Wisdom for the rest of the season.

It's not investment. It's spending.

And we've done more of it for the last decade than any other Premiership club run as a business and we're still shit. When some of them start earning their pay we'll be good again. Until then our "best players" can shut the fuck up and start getting the business done.

They're paid world class wages and they perform like mid table tossers. Fuck them.

Agree 100%

Slating a team after a loss doesn't mean that I'm not patient.
Maybe I'm interpreting "slate" the wrong way, but of course I'm gonna criticize the team if they for instance lose against West Brom away. Doesn't mean that I'm not patient.
It's a totally different thing if I write off the team after one loss.

Investing. Spending. Splitting hairs.
You're wrong.

Spending: to pay out, disburse, or expend; dispose of (money, wealth, resources, etc.)
Investing: to put (money) to use, by purchase or expenditure, insomething offering potential profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.
