We've been linked to this guy for ages, for like over a year now isn't it? If we are in for him is it just a coincidence that Rodgers also has him as a target or are there other people at the club still having an influence on transfers? Or is it more just a case of this being a one-off hangover of previous scouting?

It shouldn't be though should it? We've had that for years. Cisse, for instance, then planks like Jovanovic. I really hope it's not a £14m (or whatever) hangover.

Its all just bollocks. I reckon we aint signin the motherfucker.
Mr.Rogers© (I'm trialing this name out of respect, we'll see how it goes) is just going to unveil three players in due course.
Bam Bam Bam!
Like this.

Well I suppose it's not always necessarily a bad thing - I think Meireles and Suarez were both rumoured to have been scouted by previous management. I'm more just curious about how it's come about, whether Rodgers is calling all the shots etc.

As for the player himself, I've only seen a couple of YT videos but gotta say I was also very underwhelmed. Just as a simple whinge, why do we always seem to be signing players of real promise but whose one notable flaw is a lack of pace?! We seem to have been doing this for fucking years. It's almost pathological, and of course the longer it goes on the greater the overall lack of pace becomes and the more baffling the signings.

There may be better players out there for that price. But remember Rodgers has said he's only going for specific players that will suit his system. Plus maybe those other players don't want to come here.

Im no ramirez fan personally as i think he would struggle in the premiership, but there's no doubt he has talent. So hopefully he can improve at Liverpool. Apparently aquilani is part of the deal. I just wish he had pace.

if aquilani is part of the deal then i am much more happy - get rid of deadwood and buy young talent - obviouly price is still important.

Confidence to score goals - check
Incisive passing - check
Can cross - check
Not easily pushed off ball - check
Long range scoring - check
Pace - not sure
Line hugging winger - no
Good price - seems to be

It's also worth noting that this lad can play central aswell, so aswell as a like for like for Aquilani, the pace issue might not be that great after all, if he's playing a more central role.

28 appearances, 8 goals, 4 assists last season? Good Ratio for Serie Aaah?

58 shots, 22 on target? For Bologna?

Went to shop 47 times for groceries, drooped them just once

He's not slow though, more than enough pace. I also like that he can play in any of the attacking positions and hopefully we'll have fluent 3ish attack that can swap positions and be a bit unpredictable.

@duncanjenkinsFC: hearing gaston ramirez to #lfc is on (not done, on) with the fee £16m pound

I still don't see Carroll fitting in this team. With the midfield triangle of gerrard Lucas and ramirez. Then two wide players either side of suarez then Carroll just doesn't fit. Unless he intends to play ramirez out wide floating inside like benayoun used to do.

Ramirez will play on the right.
Suarez on the left.
Carroll alone upfront.
Gerrard just behind him.
And hopefully Aquilani with Lucas in midfield.

The fee according to twatter is £16m, which is about €20m, the figure Bologne was reportedly looking for.
