Adam Digby, Twitter's resident Italianexpert, with his opiniononGaston:

He's certainly strong enough to survive in the Premier League as he's deceptively well built & just over 6ft tall. He has excellent technical ability & is capable of playing on either wing or as a withdrawn striker/trequartista. Scored 8 goals & 4 assists last season.

He's very quick & also good in the air but can often switch off in games which maychange as he getsolder (turns 22 inDecember) & makes a lotofeffort defensively averaging 1.4 tackles & 1.1 interceptions. Occassionally over does it with his passing but if he does join Liverpool Rodgers would seem more than capable ofgettinghimtokeepitsimple.

Famously spent the winter break of his 1st season walking around Bologna city centre talking to locals & improving his language skills!

He looks to have good technical skills, ie can control and pass a ball and pace. The types of players fergie/wenger go for.

Whether he has has the balls to be success is always the difficult think to gauge.

At least he has age on his side and hopefully BR tactics can bring out the best in him.

Discussed in Italy already had official contacts for the pass from Ramirez. 48 hours are crucial.

@ AlvaroLevrero from England tells me that the pass of Gaston Ramirez is fully Liverpool management. 16 million pounds.

Looks like this mat happen then

£16m is a bit steep, but i'd be happy with the deal at that price, I hope we get it done!

When Liverpool comes calling they always raise the price. If they don't we end up in court like with Kewell and Ziege. 😉

If this happens for 16 million pounds, I'm going to be seriously upset. There are at least 15 young players in Europe who I'd rather have at that price than Ramirez.

On his potential, Ramirez isn't worth a penny more than 6 million. Please let us not be wasteful ONCE in a transfer window.

He's nowhere near as bad as you describe, but 16 mill is waaay to much.

10-12 mill is a decent fee for a talented player.

I haven't said he's a bad player. He's just average, with average potential. I wouldn't pay anything more than 6 million for him. Given that, I wouldn't want to buy him in the first place. We need to buy very good/world-class or potentially very good/world-class.

Ramirez is average and potentially above-average.

Every world class player we've tried to buy has shafted us it seems.
If we can get Jovetic, I'll be over the moon.

Ok, I'm labouring over this point, but just to highlight what I was saying, here are some more detailed clips of his performances in specific games. Might give you a better idea of what I've been saying:

Dmishra, I do agree with you on one thing from the clips i've seen and that is that he does seem a little slow when he first receives the ball, almost cumbersome.

Tbh for me those clips only highlights a talented player that I think will do well in the Premier League.

Bologna also play counter attacking football. They're pretty much 2-3 people in attack in every clip. He doesnt have a lot of options to release the ball earlier.

I think he could flourish in a team like Rodgers.

Not worth 20 mill, but I dont agree about the average part.
