Unless most people watching already know there's been a clear and obvious error, then there hasn't been one. It ain't difficult. They now use VAR to search for errors. If you need to search for errors, a clear and obvious error hasn't happened. It's sort of exasperating.

I think they're so afraid of making mistakes that they're making a shambles of it.

I agree, but they started this absurdity with that Firmino decision vs Villa.

They've now had to continue this.

Why ? Because they have done fuck all in front of goal until the disallowed goal. Whereas Salah should have put us ahead and a couple of blocks may have stopped other goals. Yep, it was a foot this time. That’s kind of the problem with “furthest part of the body one can score with” rule - this goes against the way players FEEL if they are offside, which is whether their center of the the body is level with the last defender. Nobody can legislate for a toe sticking out by one centimeter during the precise moment the pass is played or for Pukki’s body leaning slightly forward while his feet are clearly behind the last defender, so he is penalized for his armpit being ahead of the foot. It just makes no intuitive sense and that’s why it will surely be changed next season.
