Game Thread Wolves at home 29/12/19

Their goal should have stood, IMO. I didn't actually take any pleasure in that being overruled. Arm pits? Seriously? The advantage always used to go to the attacker to benefit the game. Now that's been completely taken away and we have to wait 5 minutes whilst the atmosphere is sucked out the game.

I'd be interested what Bluefume has to say.

Swings and roundabouts tho. As said above, we’ve had a few against us as with Firmino and his offside armpit

It’s a complete fucking farce init.

I think even Klopp will sympathize with Nuno there. By all the pre-VAR rules and spirit of football this was a good goal Wolves scored - and it’s been coming, I could feel it. We lost our composure a bit in the added time, while Wolves used their sense of being aggrieved to put us under pressure.

Although Bobby’s goal A few games back was ruled out under similar circumstances. It’s bollocks but it’s consistent bollocks. Clearly though VAR needs a rethink.

VAR is shite, even when we benefit.

In other news, I'm in a sports bar in New England with about 2000 TVs, 1 with our game on. The Patriots are playing in half an hour, I fear they will switch every TV over and I'll need to get in their ear. The cunts.

Cant argue with that ... but these marginal calls have been dictating results- spurs and man city last year for example - for over a year now.

The offside was bullshit, but we've been on the opposite side, so I take less objection to it today.

VAR was launched to deal ONLY with 'clear and obvious' errors. I don't see why they don't understand their own rules. Unless most people watching already know there's been a clear and obvious error, then there hasn't been one. It ain't difficult. They now use VAR to search for errors. If you need to search for errors, a clear and obvious error hasn't happened. It's sort of exasperating.

If you’re in Boston area on a Sunday not sure what you’re expecting. I don’t imagine a Patriots fan in Liverpool would find many bars showing their game instead of Liverpool’s.

Not sure you can debate that though. The rules are clear and offside is offside whether it's 1cm or 1m. Same for all so it's not deciding games per se ... the correct decisions have been given. Until they change the rules in the Summer (not sure how they are going to do that though - if they give the advantage to the attacker how much ? And then you need Var to check that too) it's not the same but it is fair as it's being applied across the league in the same fashion.

Get them told lad.

VAR has turned into a complete shit show. How the PL has managed to take what should be a useful and beneficial resource and turned it into such a disaster is beyond reason.
