I take it Aqua hasn't done much given Modo's glaring quietness.

Haha he's not getting the ball thanks to Joke Hole.

Re: Galatasaray (A)

Its all good and well that pre season is about getting fit. BUT if Kenny doesnt field a close to full strength eleven on monday or next saturday, and we start the season poorly. Questions have to be raised on what the hell we've been doing this pre season.

We have 3 new players that need to gel with the rest of the team, not play 45 mins with squad cast offs.

Exactly what my brother just said.

Hope to see a full strenght team against Valencia.

Re: Galatasaray (A)

Anyone remember when Rafa played Pepe in midfield in a pre season game? Or did i just make that up?

Re: Galatasaray (A)

Thank fuck that's over. Utter shite from start to finish. Only positives for me was Carroll, more movement and running of him.

Other than that though, we were garbage and i'm sorry but i don't know what Kenny is trying to achieve by playing such a shitty, slow, clueless team up against a lively outfit like Galatasary, pre-season or not. Especially after getting humped 3-0 at Hull.

Yep. He balloned an effort over the bar.

Re: Galatasaray (A)

I canonly think he was giving some players a chance to show they have a future

a) at the club or
b) in a certain position

and it sounds like they all failed their auditions again.

Re: Galatasaray (A)

Maybe Kennys trying to hoodwink the rest of the league so they don't see us coming?

*fingernails scrabbling at cliff face desperately*

I really don't know wtf is going on with our pre-season to be honest but the fact that Reina, Johnson, Lucas, Gerrard and Suarez haven't taken part in a second of our matches this pre-season and we play Sunderland two weeks Saturday is a real worry for me.

Re: Galatasaray (A)

Its omnious that the last few seasons we've had a good league start, we've been pretty good in pre season.
This year we've been shite, and it reminds me to much of Rafas last season in charge. I E losing 3-0 to Espanyol, and fielding make shift 11s every game.
3 goals conceded in average after 4 pre season friendlies is just not good enough.

I just hope we can get two good results and play some decent footy in our last two games, or else I think we very well can start quite poorly.
Watching Utd play pretty good football in the States doesnt help either.

Its not knee jerk, Im just getting a bit concerned.

Re: Galatasaray (A)

I'm usually more concerned when i see one of our players looking good in our pre season games tbh . Voronin seem to stand out in the memory.

Re: Galatasaray (A)

I'm not concerned yet, but if kenny doesn't start fielding first eleven players in these next friendlies I'll wonder why & begin to fear for our start to the season.

Back when kenny last managed us, what was our approach to pre season? I was too young to remember anything but pivotal games really.

[/quote]I am not concerned with the result tonight as there was one (Carroll) in the starting line up who will be a regular starter for us next season. Along with Kelly and Kuyt these are the only players I would expect to see regularly get first team action in the months ahead.
As has already been pointed out though I am concerned that there seems to be little in the way of continuity in preparing for the season ahead and these pre season games don't seem to be used as an opportunity for new team mates to gel and establish a rapport with each other.
That said I would bet on Kenny to have more of an idea of what he is doing that I would, that is if all these friendlies are of his doing.
