Whether we get Moises or Lavia or neither, they have backed Klopp with funds. That was my issue at the start of the window. If we don’t get the player's it's on Klopp and big George

How can 1 offer (and not a materialised move) change perspectives? Where was the funding during the previous transfer windows? The income from the sales of Fabinho and Henderson, alongside the wages saved from the various departures obviously helped boost the coffers.

If the money was there earlier, we probably wouldn’t have walked away from the Bellingham deal.

Not providing the support earlier/when necessary and resulting in a major chunk of the rebuilding left unsettled before the first game of the season shouldn’t be ignored/forgotten.

Chelsea are gonna beat us on Sunday, rub it in by announcing Lavia and Caicedo at the FT whistle and we'll all go home with our fingers still planted firmly up our arses.

there is money dependent on the targets

we had money for bellingham, caceido, tchouameni
two preferred real and their money, one is being advised by some dickhead agent

@King Binny I totally get your criticism, but in the end they came up with the funds, yes, they made savings on wages, bought in £50 odd million in sales, but for this window they've backed Klopp.
It's upto Klopp to use that money to get his targets.
You know more than me there's still good players out there.

Nothing has been spent yet.

May be best for everyone to wait and see what actually transpires before judging anyone either way.

Cracking post.

To me it is about the tempo being set which always comes from the top. Yes, Klopp was the catalyst for our success but it was FSG who laid out the ingredients in the background - Edwards, Graham, that entire team, careful scouting, etc. They set the tone and we seemed to be a nimble club always two steps ahead of the competition.

Not sure what happened after the success but it seems that FSG have given up. We appear very lackadaisical, lethargic. We cant find a DOF, we couldn't find a doctor for ages, people are leaving and we don't seem to find a replacement.

If there was issues between Edwards, Ward, Graham and Klopp - FSG should have stepped in and calmed the temperature down. Taken a more active role. That's what engaged owners do.

To me it is not about the money. I have no issues with FSG's principle of only spend what you earn. But be dynamic in the background. We were clever, had spunk, had strategy, knew which fights to get into and which to avoid.

I have never been a supporter of this "Net Spend" arguement but It has now won me over... How can you say that FSG came up with the money...?
Promised pre-window of sums up to £250m, and what have we got 112m euros(£96.70m) layout and 60.70m Euros (£52.40m) in players going out. Bit more if Thiago goes.
A grand sum of 51.30m euros or £44.29m. How can that be called backing the manager..?
The sooner these lot (FSG) fuck off the better

Agree mostly with this, but they take too many risks with us, and I also think that Klopp is not blameless. But I am finding it hard to believe that they can afford this LFC operation for much longer.

Eh? Redsox fans HATE FSG.

If that's the point you were trying to make. It was lost on me.

It’s not the point I was trying to make, but it looks like your final sentence was actually correct in the sense that my point was lost on you. I’m quite impressed that you were able to become so confused by such a simple statement. I cant lie. I’ll be thinking about you and your unusual mind for weeks now. Do you by any chance look like the late great Richard Briers?

Yeah, I think that’s about right - I wonder if it’s about Mike Gordon stepping away and Billy Hogan’s promotion that has created a lack of focus and direction.

I totally agree, the strategy of self funding is fair, but you have to be absolutely top notch in other areas if you aren’t going to chuck money at problems and we really haven’t been overly smart in our recruitment - whether it’s been top end or youth. - it’s just been ok rather than the innovative & world class we need to compete with oil state backed clubs or raging maniacs like Boehly.

You’d expect

To think, only yesterday morning FSG were heroes for stumping up 111m and we were potential title contenders. How quickly things change.

On Sunday we're going to destroy Chelsea and Caicedo will see the error of his (agents) ways and demand the transfer to us goes through. 540 degrees.

When I was still a wage slave I worked in local government and there were times when the sheer rigidity of "We've always done it that way" thinking (if you could even call it thinking) at all levels of the organisation drove me nuts. It was one of the main reasons I retired early, kissing goodbye to what would have been the best half-dozen or so earning years of my career, 'coz I got to a point where I was basically going to lamp somebody (probably somebody senior) if I stuck around any longer.

The way it looks to me, that's the essential nature of the problem with FSG. I've been (still am for that matter) immensely grateful to them for turfing the two cowboys out of the club. They didn't do it from the goodness of their hearts, but I don't care - they saved us from Laurel and Hardy and that was the overriding priority, after which their financial approach helped get us back into shape. Then they fetched Kloppo in and lit the blue touchpaper to get us back on our ******* perch again....

...which is where things have begun to unravel, because at that point the pursestrings had to be loosened if we were to stay at the top. ALL top sides strengthen while they're still strong. FSG either haven't learned that lesson or have refused to adapt their approach to take account of it. An LFC seriously intending to maintain its top level status would be starting this season with Gvardiol in defence and Bellingham in midfield. Without that ambition we won't maintain that status.

Great post. Completely agree.

This post right here is why i dislike logging into 6CM these days because every flipping thread is polluted by binomial and his chums' verbal diarrhea.

I miss reading sensible, well-balanced and intelligent posts like these.
