Oncy makes a valid point.

I hadn't even considered the haunting effect it would have.

I dont want Franks dead mum floating round haunting Anfield.
Maybe she'd help get rid of the fucking curse hanging over us.
probably easier to stop buying shit players.
Now Oncy- this isn't in line with your "I'm not giving up hope on anyone" stance.

*checks flip-flop-ometer*

Fer fecks sake man.

Henderson is gonna be as good as frank was. So we dont need him.
hope or expectation?

Expectation. I really think this lad will make the central spot at the front of 3 his own and play in a similar manner to fat frank.

Stevie is still fit and firing though so it'l not be til he is less of a guaranteed starter.

What about the fact that Henderson has never scored goals with any frequency ever, and hasn't looked like he will for us either?

He scores a goal every 16 games. I can't see him playing in a similar manner to lampard.

When did lampard start consistently banging them in?
In Henderson's terms, right now, this season, though he only became remarkably productive when a slew of multi million pound players were put around him and he was given a free role to score deflected goal after deflected goal.

In Hendersons terms, what does that even mean? When he made his move to a big club? In age terms, the only one that really matters, im pretty sure it was a couple of years later.

Henderson is 21 so if you total all the goals Lampard had in the the top flight, Henderson is 6 ahead.

Actually 6-0.

Lampard was 26 before he hit double figures.

I am going by appearances, not their age.

Anyway, it's not just quantitative, I simply don't see anything in Henderson's style of play that suggests he's going to be predominantly an attacking player. Am I really the only one?

Exactly, I think people forget how young he is, people expect him to be one of the best in the league, however I don't remember many midfielders who had progressed as far as he has at his age. He will be bleeding fantastic in a couple of years.

Oh and FFF I completely agree with your post.

Lampard took 296 appearances to get to 6 goals, Henderson 115.

Just realised those mightn't be totally accurate, but they can't be that far off...

He's a classy passer and does get in good positions and makes good runs, I think he has the ability to arrive late and give a good shot, we've only seen this sparcely though, this is one thing I hope he does more in the coming months, he just needs a bit more confidence and belief, its understandable being so young that hes not confident in doing it though.

Im going to guess he's basing it on premier league appearances, which wouldn't really be fair.

Those stats aren't much better. Lampard was a late bloomer.

Actually just realised I was looking at the wrong column, ignore all my previous posts. But suffice it to say Lampard didn't really start banging them in until he was about 25

That'll be a first... 😉

I see attacking instinct in Henderson. Some of his late bursts into the box are Gerrard-esque, but we definitely do not see it enough.

I think it's a complete lack of confidence

Frank Lampard was scoring a goal every five games ever since he played something like a full season, this was in 97. Jordan Henderson got the same sort of games starting in 2009 and scores at 1/3rd that rate.

That doesn't mean that Henderson can't grow into being a great player, but I don't see any evidence of him being like Frank Lampard.

And yes, some players are late bloomers, but it's not as though promising attacking players don't score goals when they are young, usually they do.

CHELSEA have told Frank Lampard they will not allow him to join a Premier League rival – but that he is free to move abroad.

And that has alerted Paris St Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti, who is desperate to sign a top-class midfielder in the January transfer window after the collapse of his club’s move for David Beckham.

Manchester United did make an enquiry to Chelsea about Lampard’s availability on Thursday – but the question was met with a flat ‘No’.

But after the breakdown of his relationship with manager Andre Villas-Boas, Chelsea are willing to release Lampard, who still has 18 months to run on his contract, on a free transfer abroad to get his £150,000-a-week salary off the wage bill.

The 33-year-old England star has no interest in moving to Major League Soccer despite interest from LA Galaxy, but a switch to Paris could tempt him as the French capital has close travel links with London, where his children live.

His close pal Joe Cole is already playing in France’s Ligue One with Lille on a year’s loan, and Qatar-backed PSG are one of the few clubs who could match his Chelsea wages.
