If it does come to that, I've got a feeling that we could do a lot worse than Steve Nicol, being mentored by The King.

He's learned the ropes very well over here, and might be the breath of fresh air / link to the past that people would respect that many think we're crying out for.

Holy fuck. He's done well, in the MLS. He's got a long journey ahead of him before he could be considered for a top position.

So did Kenny himself, once...

Why not the king himself?

Anyway... i don't want Rafa to go, just yet
Nor me, necessarily - Just sharing a thought I'd been having...

Only a little bit, Gene - If "nobody would come" as we continue to hear, why not try this angle? If it doesn't work, The King is there to temporarily step in.

If there's even the slightest chance that Nicol is the answer then you and I are asking very different questions.

And your question sounds like "Muaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh muuuuuuuuuuuaaaaahhhhhhhh brrrrrrrrrrrssssshhhhh muuuuuuuaaaaahhhhh?"

I think being so close to the stage and the amp stacks at that U2 concert has given you a massive brain injury.

Seek medical assistance.

Don't shoot me down here lads but wouldn't Bono make a great manager? He's a cool guy, likes to help people in need, gets along famously with Americans, knows how to get people top give him money and think of all the fans we'll have in Africa!!
Heh, this isn't far off Modokay's Barnes for manager thread.
Except that Nicol has proven himself extremely competant at lower championship type level...

Not saying I want it, necessarily, nor that it wouldn't be a risk - Just that it's possible. And Kenny wasn't exactly a sure thing in 1985 either...

He'd get Hick and Gillette to build the f#$!ing stadium, that's for sure! ;D

If Rafa ever goes, my top choice to replace him would be Felix Magath. A little general famous for his brutal physical training methods (one of the numerous stories about his training is when he too the whole team he was coaching on a day-long rowing expedition on a lake. When they returned many players were vomiting from exhaustion) and uncanny scouting eye (he created the highest-scoring strike duo in German history by raiding FC Teplice and Le Mans). He is not just a coach, but an all-around club manager and in my opinion, one of the very best in the game.

Steve Nicol is my all time hero, he is all round greatest guy and i think his man management skills would be a great improvement on the cold business like style of Benitez.

I am not sure if he is tactically up to it. Or if he would be any good in the transfer market.

Hmmm Steve Nicol.

There's no room for sentiment in football.

Martin O'neill would get my vote.

He wouldn't get mine.

Benitez will be our manager for at least the next 2 seasons, get used to it.

There is only one man in football today that would bring us the leauge..... Mourinho. Anyone hear Balluge on talk shite tonight?

"Jose Mourinho has knocked on the door of Liverpool several times now. First was when his agent JM contacted DIC & DIC told him "If we take Liverpool over we have our manager"

"Since then Jose Mourinho has been in contact with people from the club (let's just say they are American) & there have been talks."

"Jose has made it clear that if in the future they need a manager, 'I'm your man''.

Hodgeson would be my pick from the Premiership managers.

He's the only guy who ticks all the boxes.

If that were true, I don't believe the owners would've handed Rafa such a decent contract, especially while they were skint.

Two things:

1 - Ballague talks utter shite.
2 - Mourinho is a cunt.

Ha, possibly.

It wasn't a good one though mate, as you've probably noticed by everyone's responses.

I'd honestly consider him over somebody like Curbishly or Redknapp or some of the other cabbages that were being bandied about when Rafa last looked in trouble.

Goes without saying that there are many I'd have in front of him...

Rafael should leave now before taking us further down. Or the Yanks should sack him and Sammy with King Kenny to take over until next summer.
