That was a great breakaway, picked up by Babel on the edge of our box, good positive central run and pass to Voronin who in turn played a good ball.
Go John Motson!!

Arrrrggggh!

The annoyance of Babel. Good touch, turn and pass outwide. Instead of darting on straight into the box for the ball in, he stood there admiring what he just did.

He's a lazy fuck, got back then to cover left back and let the player run round him and put a cross in. You don't have to be good at tackling to get in someones way so not being a left back is no excuse.

Babel looks knackered.

The commentator said he cost 17.25 million. Did he must say any random numbers that popped into his head?

Spearing has looked our best player in the 1st half IMHO. His busy self- could have girded up his loins and had a pop aon a few occasions, but was trying to be unselfish. Should just play his own game.

He's gradually reminded me how fucking annoying he is as this half has wore on. Typical stuff really.

Spearing is a good tidy little player.

He should have had a pop that time on the edge of the box for sure. Playing well though and willing to get stuck in. Must be nice for him to get to play along side Gerrard too.

Vorinin is having a decent game too. Nice touches and passing.

Definitely, he's been great. Busy, industrious, a few nice flicks, tracking back, just needs to get in some better positions.

Is Johnson really playing LB?
Apparently hes playing left back in the second half and has been training in that position all week!!

I think (hope!) Benitez likes to do that to players to appreciate positioning and stuff. There was a story from when he took over, he told Kewell to play left back in training, who wasn't best pleased, because he wanted him to appreciate the game from a different position, improve his teamwork etc.

He's putting in a good shift anyway. Nemeth not getting much and the half passed him by a bit.

I suppose there's no sense in waiting for the middle of the season before making bizarre decisions.

Dirk Coat........ the man who has a problem with his name.... what an EGG!
He's a fucking numpty. The way he was pronouncing Voronin's name was also ridiculous.

BTW I can tell everyone for a fact that his name should be pronounced to rhyme with shout, as everyone in the world tends to do.

"Glen Johnson....I didn't recognise him with his new hairdo." Where the fcuk has that commentator been living for the past year.

Neither is as simple as many people think.

The pronunciation of "Kuyt" is actually a mixture between "Kout" and "Kite".  Try pursing your lips as though you're doing a Mick Jagger imitation, then saying "Kite" through them, and you're pretty much there.  If you can't manage that, "Kout" is probably the nearest most non-Dutch (or non-German) speakers will get.

If the commentator's pronouncing the Crow's name as Vo-RON-in he's actually correct.

Nice link-up between Pacheco and Yossi.
Aye but how do you correctly pronounce those names ?

My wife's auntie is married to a man from Katwijk- and we go there fairly regularly. The locals (who I made a point of asking) rhyme it with shout so far as I can tell.

Nice work from Johnson there, who plays a decent ball in- strikers should have anticipated it better.

I can't claim that, doc, but I've heard the man himself pronounce it in an interview and I also asked my godson's mum, who is Dutch.  In both cases I'm sure I heard a little "u-umlaut" sound just before the "t".  A lot of European languages pronounce "y" in that way.  It comes from the Greek, where the letter originates.

BTW that prize dork Lawrenson also calls our manager BENNY-tez.
