I keep thinking I'm going to see some fine print, but here you go:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/apr/16/nbc-premier-league-match-of-the-day

So, in short, instead of having to pay $15 extra a month to get the odd liverpool game they shoved onto fox soccer channel plus, and instead of having to get whatever shit tier of cable package FSC comes with, you instead get the games on channels most packages have by default. Only on some really weird days will they have to use their other properties to show the games (which includes Bravo, the jokes will write themselves from the soccerfags crowd) or overflow channels, but ALL games will be live, and ALL games will also stream for free on the NBC sports live extra website.

AND, AND!!! We get Match of the Day. This seems tremendous!

GAMES BY PLATFORM (Subject to Change)
NBC 20
NBCSN 154
Premier League Extra Time 184
Telemundo/Mun2 76
Other NBCU Channels 22
NBC Sports Live Extra 380
TYPICAL WEEKLY PROGRAMMING
(All games live; All times ET)
Saturday
7am – NBCSN; 10am – NBCSN; 12.30pm – NBC
Sunday
8am – NBCSN; 11am NBCSN/Telemundo
Monday/midweek
2.30pm — NBCSN

So now we just need a US-based fan to set up some high quality streaming we can connect to. Hell, we might even pay towards some infrastructure. Or Mr Fox can advise about doing it for free, or less.

Streaming like that costs serious cash. Another lfc site does exactly that & has to charge for it. Still well cheaper & better than streaming sites but it ain't cheap. Also the hd video capture cards don't come cheap & neither does the bandwidth that gives you enough upload.

If it were that simple to do I'd have done it years ago when I got my motorised dish installed.

Where is the dislike button?🙁

It'll have to be a decent webcam pointing at the TV then. We can draw straws to see who's turn it is each week.

Ha. It's the streaming to multiple people that's the issue, not the initial streaming.

I could do Justin tv streams using my basic SD capture card (costing less than £20) at any time, but cos its SD & my upload isn't very big then the quality would be the same as most p2p streams that you can access anyway.

To stream at a higher quality than that, or on a regular basis with copyrighted content, then you need your own server.

Do you know how these contracts work? Does it go through re-compete season by season, or does NBC get this right for a couple of years?

$250million 3 year deal

Honestly, maybe it's just because I remember not being able to watch a single fucking match, but this is a great thing for football in the US.

I only watch MOTD when we win. I proper sulk when we dont
Couldn't agree more Sunny.

When I was 12 the manager of my Under 13's football team asked me why I was unusually quiet. I explained that Liverpool had lost the previous day (Saturday). He laughed and told me that when I got a bit older and had a job and a girlfriend etc I'd realise that my team losing doesn't really mean all that much in the whole scheme of things! I know he was trying to help but he made it 20 times worse - I couldn't believe there would be a time when LFC winning or losing wouldn't make-or-break my weekend - I was devastated to think such a world could exist.

Thankfully he was wrong and LFC results still make-or-break my weekend. There's no point supporting a team unless it fucking hurts when they lose.

If we get an American proxy, could we watch games off the NBC website live for free? Regardless this is great news, more channels showing the games mean more streams on matchday.

Yeah. It's rare that a free proxy service is good enough to watch streams through though, but it's certainly easier to find a quality cheap proxy than a quality streaming site these days.

Yeh indeed, you can get paid for ones quite cheap though, so if they show a good amount of Liverpool games, it might be worth an investment.

Yeah, count me in too. I *might* make an exception if we score a wonder goal which I need to see despite the result, but that's not nailed on.

Come on Brad/Chip/Bubba, where's the gung-ho Yankee to take the bait about running a streaming service for their ever-grateful, special-relationship cross-Atlantic cousins? We might even chip-in a bit of olde worlde coinage.
