That's what I meant. He was stupid odds wasn't he? Pretty much everyone I knew had something ranging from 2 to 10 quid on him at something like 50 to 1.

I was convinced he was going to be top scorer I've no idea why. Placed the bet about 3 weeks before the Euros, the following week he banged a hat trick for the Czechs in a friendly and his odds got slashed!

Milan Baros gets a free pass from me for being the unsung hero of our equaliser in Istanbul. First of all it was his lovely little dink pass which put Stevie through on that run. Then, when Dida saved Xabi's peno Nesta tried to muscle his way past Baros to get into the area. Baros stood his ground and delayed Nesta just that vital second or two, otherwise Nesta gets to the ball before Xabi does and clears it.

And yes, whatever else you think of him, he was clearly a better player than Borini the cross-eyed caged lion.

Didn't he also move himself out of the way of smicer's shot?

Indeed - well remembered. He must have been tempted to stick a boot out and try to bag it for himself, and goodness knows where it would have gone.

Not just the final, he ran his socks off all season that year. For that, he gets more than a pass from me.

Had his obvious limitations, but he was certainly more physical and skilful a striker than Borini.

I was at the game at Bolton when he scored his first two goals for us. He was fast, tenacious and direct, which at the time, in Houllier's very slow and cautious side, seemed like a really exciting thing. Pity he never seemed to be coached after that to look up and improve his positioning, but, yes, he was miles better than Borini will ever be.

We could do with some of Baros's energy and passion now. Contrast his attitude with the likes of Sterling and Balotelli. Night and day.

He also expertly moved out of the way of Smicer's shot.

Loved the corner flag he did. Always dribbled out there. Fecking mumpties comparing him with that do nothing borini

I saw him at the Milk cup when he was a kid, he was absolutely fantastic, I was really glad we signed him. Even with hindsight I know who I'd rather have in the side.

[article]Liverpool striker Fabio Borini has had ‘many offers’ from Serie A and elsewhere, according to his agent.

The former Roma forward is looking to leave Anfield this summer, after making just three Premier League starts last season.

“It’s a delicate situation,” Marco De Marchi told Calciomercato.

I’ve had many offers from all the major Leagues: Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A. Out of respect for Liverpool, and the interested teams, I’d prefer not to mention names.

“All I can say is that we’re reflecting on the best solution for Fabio and for the Reds. We have to make the right choice.

“Borini has no preference for a League or country, he’s looking for a top level club which is willing to give him a role.

“Fabio is a striker with special features, which you’re unlikely to find in other players who play the same role.

“That’s why there’s so much interest in him.”[/article]

If there is so much interest, hurry the fuck up and move him on then.
I'm guessing his wife is currently deciding where he can go. London or Rome.

WTF?

How did Borini start being compared to Baros in this thread? Might as well compare a decent full English with a fucking pop tart. Or something.

Why wasn't he loaned out last year? In January it was obvious we would rather play without strikers than have him in the squad

[article=http://www.football-italia.net/69571/borini-confirms-fiorentina-talks]Fabio Borini “has spoken to Fiorentina and will decide also based on Liverpool’s needs,” confirmed his agent.

The striker is looking for a move away from Anfield after realising his chances of first team football have been further reduced.

“Yes, we have spoken to Fiorentina, but are evaluating everything carefully,” agent Marco De Marchi told Radio Blu.

“Fabio will decide also based on Liverpool’s needs. We are looking for an important project in Italy or elsewhere, but for the moment he doesn’t have a preference.”

The 24-year-old has also been linked with a move to Lazio.

These same two clubs are battling it out for Genk striker Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, so Borini is seen as an alternative.[/article]
