Liverpool target Fabio Borini expects to remain with Roma after the capital club bought him outright from Parma.

The player was co-owned with the Tardini outfit, but the Giallorossi won a blind auction for his full ownership last Saturday.

“As far as I am concerned, Borini is off the market,” agent Marco De Marchi told the Gazzetta Giallorossa.

“Roma gave an important signal by signing his whole contract and he is therefore now a Roma player – which was always what he wanted.

“Liverpool? I know nothing about that. What I do know is that Roma now own him outright.”

Borini moved to Parma last summer on a free transfer after his contract at Chelsea was not renewed by the English club.

The 21-year-old then moved to Roma on loan and the Giallorossi bought a 50 per cent share in him during the January transfer window.

Liverpool’s interest is as a result of the appointment of Brendan Rodgers at Anfield. Borini worked under Rodgers at Swansea during a brief loan spell where he scored six goals in 12 League games.

Borini is currently on international duty with Italy at Euro 2012, but he has yet to appear for the Azzurri in the tournament.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers steps up negotiations to make Roma striker Fabio Borini his first signing

Brendan Rodgers is close to making Roma forward Fabio Borini his first signing as Liverpool manager following lengthy negotiations in Italy.

Rodgers worked with Borini when he was a coach in Chelsea's academy and again at Swansea City when the 21 year-old came on loan to the then Championship side in March 2011, scoring six goals in just nine appearances in South Wales.

That temporary move did not lead to a first-team breakthrough at Stamford Bridge and Borini, who moved to London from Bologna as a teenager, returned to Italy after making just three senior appearances.

The Italy Under-21 international, who made his full international debut against the US in February, moved to Parma initially, but was immediately loaned out to Roma, who are believed to have an option to buy for £7 million.

Despite failing to make an impact at Chelsea, Borini has flourished on his return to his homeland and Rodgers saw enough of him at Swansea to believe he is good enough to slot into the Liverpool team on the right of a three-man strike-force.

The deal is slightly complicated by the fact Borini is co-owned by Parma and Roma, with each holding a 50 per cent stake, which means Liverpool will have to reach an agreement with both clubs to finalise the move.

However, it is unlikely Liverpool would be expected to pay much more than the £7m price Roma had agreed with Parma as part of their loan agreement.

that is an embarrassing article really , how can they have no idea that Roma already bought him outright in the blind auction .

Wonder if we're still in for him though . anything over 5-6m is profit for roma although guess they'll want at least double what they paid in the action otherwise would have made more financial sense to let parma have him for the 5m they offered .

Whoever this Luke Edwards is, he needs a rocket up his @rse from his editor (who needs one up his own in turn) for missing the fact that the guy is now a Roma player full stop. However, that may not necessarily imply we're *not* in for him. Roma may have tied him up in a permanent deal specifically with a view to selling him on.
