My Dad's a blue, so naturally I've always refrained a bit from laying into them. (I was born in Liverpool but lived in Cheshire most of my life)
They use the "always the victims" jibe these days, which is ironic because their lack of self awareness increases by the season. Kick shit out of everyone and blame it on a tackle Stevie did on Campbell 20 years ago, blame their own failures on Heysel from nearly 40yrs ago...
It seemed to start with stuff like Van Der Meyde's red card, then the tackle on Origi, Barkley on Henderson a few times - actually that game really turned the screw and was the makings of Hendo. Having already been on the end of a bad RB challenge at Anfield, in the next Woodison game the same thing happened. Henderson brushed himself off, ran the game and Mane stole a last gasp winner. Then we proceeded to twat them in almost every game, challenging for trophies again while they jumped on the managerial merry-go-round and plummeted to the depths. So they snapped VVD to derail our season, then celebrated like they'd won the world cup when they finally beat our depleted side last season.
Now it's chants about the 97. My colleague is a steward, she said Sunday was the worst it's been. Suffocation and push gestures throughout. My daughters ex (an Evertonian) was brought up to hate us, he used to ring my daughter post derby defeat, taking his frustration out, calling us murderers etc, it came from his Dad who had the same vile attitude.
So fuck them. I hope they spiral and spiral into the doldrums of lower league football and stay there. They've absolutely no concept of self-failure or taking ownership for their own fuck-ups and their idiot minority (if it even is one). My only fear is the hatred will only fester more. We'll have another million years of them blaming us for their relegation, but I'd take that if it means we only have to send out our reserves occasionally to twat them in the cups.
I hate them. Small-man-syndrome riddled absolute tramps.
