That would also suggest that Darwin doing peak Mane things is a problem - or we need to get the ball to him as much as we do Salah.

The team has much better shape like this.

Here’s the question - Thiago or Henderson to partner Badger Tits if both are fit?
Hendo was very good yesterday and if he plays like that then his pressing is an advantage. However in general play Thiago is better at almost everything as his stats prove. It would depend on the opposition and if we were getting yesterday's Hendo or the very poor version of late.

Good ol' Andy loved by all.

Pickford trying desperately to keep everyone at arms length

Hahaha

Konate (I don't care that I spelt his name wrong) would have loved that - however, I'd still swap him in the summer, kids made of ice cream cones

It was a better display but let’s not go circle jerking. They were appalling. They deserve to be relegated.
And we almost conceded from the first attack, a set-piece to boot, too— who would have thought. But after that, the break and goal was vintage Liverpool.

Hendo was really excellent for England in the WC but seemed to return completely burnt out. If Hendo wants a future at Liverpool he needs to quit the international team.

Klopp said everyone got two days off last week and everyone looked better coming back. Maybe to get the best out of Hendo we need him to play once a week with minimal training. Just like spurs did with that crock of a centre half. Who I can’t remember.

I dunno - the point Ivwas half trying to make is that we’ve seemed more disjointed this season when he’s been there.

As you say, depends on the opposition - but he seems to need teams that sit deep and not press - while when we need him to press, his tackling isn’t great.

I’m not singling him out - he’s clearly not alone in having a shit season.

He and Fabinho benefitted from a poor Everton which put little pressure on them. Halfway decent teams won't (and so far this season haven't) allow that luxury.

Actually I thought Everton tried a high press most of the game. They clearly had that intention and the CBs and Fabs came under a lot of pressure when on the ball.

We played a good game yesterday and made Everton look poor. Need to do it again against Newcastle, but it was promising.

Yes, Everton tried to press but it was laughably bad, although when they did get through Henderson and Fabinho, Matip, in particular, was a nervous wreck. As I said, halfway better teams would have done exactly what Brighton, Brentford and Wolves did to us which is to waltz through our midfield and score. A fundamental difference last night, though, was Salah, Gakpo and Nūnez giving defenders little time to think and Bajčetić looking after the ball better as well as Gomez being a lot more solid.

On reflection, I think it’s important to note that both our goals came from horrific mistakes by Everton players that literally made our strikers’ mind up (even though Salah’s was not easy to execute to be fair). It’s much harder to score when the opposition doesn’t present you with a gaping goal, when you actually have to shoot with power and accuracy to beat the keeper and defenders. Newcastle will reveal the true state of our attack; I hope our guys are ready.

Makes me think getting our players to run 50-60k per week in training is a dubious “achievement.”

It's going to take a very long break to make Naby or Cutis look any good.

Said this a month ago. Milner quit England around the current age of Hendo. I am betting that is one of the reasons why he prolonged his club career.

If Hendo wants to continue playing for England, we should look to move him on. Southgate is loyal to his players. He will continue picking Hendo irrespective of his club form. I also respect players who want to continue playing for their country. But at his salary, we cant afford a Hendo who wants to play for club and country.
