He was just trying to be seen to make amends for when he beautifully let the ball run to Cody earlier in the match to allow his beloved reds take a 2-0 lead.

I did see that. The wishful non-involvement kind of defending we know from Trent.

That is so so wrong. Watch it again. Mo was giving it his all. It was Gakpo who slowed down as he was getting ahead of the play.

You can literally see Mo accelerating again. This is up there with lip reading and body language experts.

No doubt, he’s one of the fastest players in the league.

The other argument is, well, lolz.

Nope you can see Gakpo slowing down, which is the only time Mo gains on him.

From UEFA’s match day centre 22/23:
Salah top speed recorded: 34.4 km/h
Gakpo top speed recorded: 32 km/h

Both rapid, Mo still fastest.

That top speed must have been at the end of the 50m when Mo was trying to get to the ball (or a short sprint at another time entirely) - because my eyes don't need UEFA to tell me Mo was not catching Gakpo for the first 40m - you can see it for yourself in the clip !

Just watch it again. Mo doesn't gain an inch until Gakpo eases off. It's not even a question so God only knows what you and UEFA saw !

Jesus lads... unless you had a speed gun on both from start to finish, it's an impossible debate to win.

Move on.

C’mon, that’s the most fun pointless debate on here in ages. Did Gakpo “ease up at the end” or did Salah “put on the burners and blow him out of the water?” We need to know the truth!

The group think on here a few days ago was that Gakpo was slow.

This is an improvement. How fast are we catching up to reality though? Really, though. It's hard to measure the relative speed.

No matter how fast we catch up to reality, we'll never catch up to Gakpo. Or is that Mo? Frankly, I think this forum is pretty slow in general, so probably neither.

I don't understand all this talk about Gakpo being slow. He's actually pretty quick. His height makes him look slower.

He eased up to stay onside - watch him look across the line at Nunez 😉
