Regarding the Republic; I have no idea how John O'Shea and Richard Keogh kept a clean sheet against Muller, Goetze, Ozil, Reus etc! Also, I've been pissed off for years that Glenn Whelan is an automatic first choice for us and hopefully Hendricks performance last night will convince O'Neill that Whelan is surplus to requirements.

The problem about Sunday is we need to score (and get a win or a high scoring draw) but we are not set up to be an attacking team and Poland can just sit deep and hit us on the break. I'm not optimistic about our chances in Poland but then again I thought we would get "muller-ed" last night so what do I know.

If you look across the groups, there's a lot of lesser nations punching above their weight - Norn Iron, Wales, Poland, England, Iceland, Austria...

Greece, Romania and even Hungary were well up the rankings when the teams were drawn. Even Finland was well ahead of us in the FIFA rankings.

I think when qualification was made easier i.e. even 3rd place can qualify, we all thought that finally Norn Iron and Wales might actually have a chance.........I doubt many thought they'd actually win their bleedin' groups!
