Remember after 05 they kept interviewing Ferdinand as he kept saying that he was happy for Stevie and Carra as England mates when they won the CL. It was as annoying as hell the way he kept saying it - I wanted him to whine about the result or be devastated.
I certainly got a lot more satisfaction out of the response from Giggs - "I didn't buy a newspaper for nearly two weeks."
I think most of us expect the mancs to win and Gerrard is making sure he doesn't have to put up with the press asking him how "distraught" and "devastated" he is with the result. He's made it perfectly clear on numerous occasions throughout his career just how much he despises Everton and the mancs.
Some players seem to take pleasure in giving the media what they don't want despite their personal feelings (Ferdinand and Gerrard) while others would sooner walk through lava fields than sound conciliatory (Giggs/Neville or Carra/Pepe).
