Every sliding tackle is going to have studs up - the key is whether the studs were directed at the player or not. In this case, they were going sideways across the player for me. I suppose like someone said previously - this is a lesson for Sterling in terms of the more stringent refereeing standards outside of the league.

yeah i don't reckon it was a red but i can see why it was given. His foot went over the top of the ball so the suggestion is he wasn't fully in control
