This is a bit of a 180 from Spidey, who had been blaming all our away results on Roys tactics up until now.

Quote from: spider-neil on April 24, 2011, 01:07:21 PM
Sorry, meant can't put the blame solely on Roy. He was a massive factor and his tactics were a disgrace but it's not his fault we were profligate with chances and Shambolic in defense, srktel's positional sense was rubbish long before Roy came on the scene.

Let's say winning away from home has 10 factors to be correct, I'd say Roy got 6 of those factors wrong and the other 4 was poor players and luck. I think kenny can address a lot of what Roy got wrong but (for example) maxi will still be wasteful under pressure, skrtel's positional sense will still be suspect. Will the kenny effect be enough to turn previous losses into draws and draws into wins. We're still pretty erratic away from home.

So Neil hasn't jumped on the bandwagon, why all the sarcasm and ridicule?
I mean it's only his opinion and personally think he's right.
Of course no manager is perfect but he's highlighting some of the problems we've had in away games these past few seasons.
Aye. we're fucking blessed to have you and Neil to point out these things to us. We'd be fucking lost without yous.

Come on it's not like he shoved it down your throats. Some of these points might have been obvious but I do think it's fair to point them out especially if it's missing in the tactics/team or whatever.

Neil you have to understand that some posters (and i happen to be one of them) hate overblown tactical posts. Especially ones that state the obvious. And even more especially ones that appear smug and self satisfying.

Its not personal dude but you have to expect to be pulled up on it. You get pulled up and argued with BECAUSE you are opinionated. Thats just life dude.

Maybe you're right, but you could do with calming down once in a while Neil. You take it all so seriously.
I fly off the handle when people tell me my posts are shit (which they probably are) but that person doesn't say WHY they are shit. 'oh, what a load of rubbish' WHY is it rubbish? there hasn't been a single post I've read on this forum regardless of 'out there' I thought the post was and I responded with 'what a load of rubbish' without saying why I disagreed with the post.

also any post I make isn't trying to make myself like a tactical master, obviously hodgson, rafa, whoever has more football knowledge than I do but as a fan I have the right to say when I think we've gone about getting 3 points poorly. if we deferred to the manager's football savvy then why did people want roy sacked?
In fairness, if you reply to one of your posts, you have to sit on your PC for about an hour replying to all of your replies, simply because you love having the last word.

😉

Please just smile once in a while neil! Enjoy the fact that we are Liverpool. It's not such an ordeal to support us, and it's not the end of the world if we concede a goal!

to be fair modo I can see why people would be tired of me talking bread and butter tactics but I was 'ASKED' to post my opinion, and did.

also it's all well and good going 'oh, that's obvious', 'oh, that's obvious' well, why weren't we doing it then?! why is it that when kenny came in suddenly we were doing the basics, it's THE SAME PLAYERS. yes, roy has 30 years of experience but his tactics were all over the fucking place and just people I don't have a coaching badge doesn't mean I can't see obvious flaws in his tactics.

Re: Re: Dumbledores Army

With oncy's list of 10, reina will wear red (or maybe dark pink) which is probably breaking some rule. He will either get sent off each match or the premier league will dock us points - either way we will fail to win the league as a result .

I'm so glad DB and spider neil are not part of the Army. One because Pat is almost always wrong and two because Neil is just one of those people who goes on and on and on and on and on that much that, if he did join any Army, he'd end up getting shot by his own side for a little bit of peace and quiet.

there have only been two times in probably two decades where at the start of the season I thought we were going to win the league, the two seasons where we had the worst league finishes under the manager.

gh:
previous season we finished 2nd. with gh we went 4th, 3rd, 2nd and I thought we do it the next season but we bought the terrible trio and finished with our worst league finish under gh.

rafa:
we finished 2nd (highest runners up points total in premiere league history) and I thought we would push on and win the league the next season but didn't factor in alonso leaving which pretty much kicked our league season into touch, we had our worst league finish under rafa.

seemed logical to me, that progress and previous position of runners up would only require a small jump to becoming champions. trust me, it's definately for the best that I don't believe we can win the league.

Fuck it, it may be partly because of the naysayers and twits in this thread, but I'm in! I honestly think that too many things are coming right for us not to be in with a chance of a title run next year, and heck IMO a true liverpool fan should always believe we've got a chance at the title at the the beginning of the season, so why not look to it a little earlier. Everything seems spot on/moving in the right direction now; Manager, players and signings, youth, atmosphere, simple ideas that work, backroom staff and behind-the-scenes people, commercial operations, and for now the yanks too. It's looking a bright future indeed, and as a couple of people have said now, it has been years since I have felt this optimistic about our possible fortunes.

Brace yourself lads, I think we may be about to see that golden sky.

Trust you that it's better you don't believe?

Sorry,Neil.

But one BIG reason we've never won in 20 years was because we've never believed.

Anyway, let's put it this way, we've gone from finishing 2nd in 2009 to struggling for a European place the season after, so why not the reverse? The gap isn't as great as everyone seems to be making out, it's doable, and we have one thing that Arsenal, City and Spurs lack - team spirit, confidence and GUTS.

It's slowly showing signs of turning around, we had the 'guts' to face Chelsea and beat them on their own turf, after they'd just taken one of the best strikers we've ever had. Anyway, we'll have the much coveted, brilliant, fast winger next season that will give us better options on the break away from home.

I think the real reason for not having a league title is we've followed up superb seasons where we've finished runners up with a terrible (TERRIBLE!) transfer summer where there was a golden oppertunity to consolidate our position and push on.

I agree. I also think filling the team with more home grown players may also help us away from home. it's all well and good turning it on when the S** is shining but in the winter when it's cold and wet our league challenge nearly always disappears up our own arse and I think players who are a little tougher and liverpool means that little bit more may turn around our fortunes on the road.

you better slow the fuck down right there neil, you're starting to sound like a member of the Army, and we can't make room for you, your name is way too long!

There are actually a lot of sober judges in DA for 2011-12. A lot of new recruits rather than the usual blind faith hit and hopers. Have Bunny, Count, Wizardry, Rosco, Sunny ever been previously recruited to DA? I think not. Have I? I have not indeed. This is the premier crew. It is the fifth sign of the prophesy come true.

If we're talking about new recruits who never believed, then you must KNEEL BEFORE ZOD!!
