My god, if Brendan were still around he'd have a field day in this thread with spidey. He just pulled ten random factors out of a hat for winning away from home, constructed a straw man out of them, and now we're arguing with him on these ambiguous, meaningless terms. Ross has the right idea.
We still love you Neil, but you're talking shit.

those points are not random and absolutely vital for away games. if you don't agree with them, fine, but I didn't pull them from my arse.
as for my talking shit, you bring up brendan but he isn't here, but you are, so exactly which point did I make that is full of shit? read my points again and tell me exactly which point is flawed.
you can say my points aren't rocket science (although we consistently fail to do the basics away from home) but you can't say they are full of shit and if you think they are full of shit please tell me which point is rubbish.
that was a wonderfully patronising post with absolutely nothing whatsoever to back up your arguement, forget bren, pick the holes in my arguement yourself.
my ealier post again;
1. You have to be organised in defense.
2. You have to be compact in midfield.
3. You have to be clinical.
4. You have to able to defend under pressure for long periods.
5. You have to be able to hold up the ball.
6. You have to be able to change tactics quickly.
7. You have to be proactive rather than reactive.
8. You have have good options on the bench to be able to change the game if things are going tits up.
9. You have to be quick on the counter attack.
10. You have to be able to control the pace of the game and slow things down especially to quiet the crowd.
exactly which one of those points is bullshit, the floor is open, let's hear you pick it apart.

1 AND 2 were the hallmarks of Hodgson's style which you were always critical of. If 7 was happening , 4 wouldn't. If 9 and 3 were possible why would you want to do 5 ?
And don't 9 and 10 contradict each other ?
The big problem with your post is that it's predicated on the notion that the home team does all the attacking and has all the possession. At best that's a horrible generalisation.

You make it sound like I'm saying all aspects of that list has to be executed simultaneously, I'm saying they are aspects we need to come away with the three points more often than not.
If your team is organised and compact, chances are you'll be static and predictable, it's about being fluid, changing tactics to overcome any setback, having the strings to your bow even if on occasion you don't need it.
