Don't go breaking my heart!

I haven't read this whole thread but this is what i have to say on this...

We should do everything we can to hang on to players like Nando and Pepe.

You can spend loads of money like City and still not have a single world class players. They have a squad of good and some very good players like Tevez, but there is nothing that stands out as unplayable. Gerrard, Torres and Pepe consistently reach that level.

So, we happen to have three of those stand out players who gel very well. Instead of looking to cash in and possibly waste that cash on loads of good players like City have done, we should look to build a squad around these guys.

If we spend 20 million or more in the Jan transfer window, that will signal the intent we have as a club to this guys and go a long way towards convincing them to stay.....lets just do that.

I think the owners will not be against that, considering they got a cut price deal on the club.

He might be just doing a Rooney, but pushing the club to spend. All this talk of long term planning is too much. There's definitely short term achievable goals, and he CL is not far away

Wanting a few very good players to bolster the first team is not a novel idea. Henry acknowledges that our squad lacks quality and depth which is something they are looking to address.

We need to add quality and strength to have a chance of winning any silverware and that's a fact. What is doesn't mean is that we must throw money blindly at players to fix our problems. We need to do things smartly.

I think it was Rory Smith of the Telegraph that said that a bid of at leat 23 mill £ from Arsenal was rejected this summer.

He is the sort of goal keeper on whom dynasties are built. A world class goal keeper who gets us.

Back off Mamma. Real slow. And keep your hands where I can see them.

I'd cry is Pepe left.

If the unthinkable happened, Neuer would be my first choice to replace him. Big, agile and young.

The problem is, if he goes we're basically selling the best keeper around, whoever we bring in isn't going to be better.

And that's a fact.

No reason for keeping him if he wants out and it would free cash to bolster elsewhere but we'd be in a right pickle.

Neuer is an interesting shout. Lloris for me looks a world-class act and if Reina, and this would be the worst scenario, should go to United they'd probably not buy Lindegaard then and he'd be another very decent and cheap bet.

Hope it's bollocks though.

Not better straightaway Mark but we could move for Lloris or the lad at Athletico, they could have the potential to be as good as Reina in the medium term. I really, really hope we keep hold of Pepe though. He is as important off the pitch as he is on it.

I'd rather Pepe over any keeper in the world as he is 'ours'. Neuer, Lloris and De Gea should be high our list if he was to go. How is Akinfev (sp?) doing lately. I thought he would have moved to a bigger club by now.

Lloris is a brilliant shot-stopper, but his distribution is AWFUL.

Anyway, Reina's not going to leave.

I hope you are right. If you are not I'll blame you for this mess...

Reina is my favourite player after Gerrard, and I would be so gutted to see him leave. But I am getting sick and tired of all these stories about players threatening to leave every five minutes, I take the point that there are no quotes in the story, but there's no smoke without fire, this isn't a story in isolation, there have been several reports about Reina being unhappy since the summer, and unless there's a change in manager sooner rather than later, he probably will be gone. And Torres will soon follow for sure if Reina goes.

They can all get lost.

Neuer and Adler both seem reasonable prospects if the nightmare scenario of Reina leaving came through.

add De Gea to that list aswell

100% Neets. I said that it doesn't matter who it is but if they don't wanna play for the jersey, then leave.

Yeah! Fuck 'em all! Even if the story is complete bullshit!

I mean why would the English media publish stories about discontent at Liverpool unless they were true?

It was different with Xabi! He was pushed...ah forget it. Plus he looks so beautiful in that picture.

Like I said Mamma Mia, it's not the first story, so it's not so easy to disregard. And I'm not mental enough to buy into conspiracy theories about the media being 'out to get us'.
