Perhaps Neil, but I don't see the point in LFC fans pointing that out time and again.
Rival fans are getting enough mileage from it as it is.
 
So will all the people who had a (conditional, hypothetical) go at Pepe in this thread, choosing to believe the Daily Mail over him, come out and apologise now?

Great statement from Pepe, really glad to hear that, like I said one of my favourite players, I love the guy.

Apologise for what Bunnyman? For saying that I'm sick of hearing players want to leave? Er, no I'm not sorry for saying that. Or for saying that if players want to leave we should sell them no matter how much I like them? Er no, not sorry for that either.

try and put yourself in a top footballer's shoes. you have maybe 10 years at the very top, a very limited amount of time to earn as much and win as much as possible. you are effectively kicking some of those years into touch playing for an underachieveing team.

I won't apologise for anything. If I had abused Pepe personally, I'd obviously apologise to the guy. Apologise for letting off some steam on an internet forum where the object of my ire was never going to know? Erm, no.
 
Well obviously you'd never have 'let off steam' if Pepe was going to find out, because he's 6ft4 and built like a brick shithouse.

I also think you should apologise to Neets and me for being sanctimonious.
 
I wasn't being sanctimonious. I'm not outraged or anything. I just think people are a bit quick to believe bad things about our players based on nothing but rumours and crap tabloid stories. Especially with someone like Reina, who's always been so outspokenly loyal. And especially posters like you and Anita, who are both normally very intelligent and likeable.

He's 6ft 2. Delighted he's come out and said he's staying. Never believe the press anyways. But its nice that he thinks it important to reassure the fans.
 
if you were making a list of players starting with the players you wont least to leave going up to the players you want shot I suspect pepe would be number 1 on the fans list they want least to leave, he is certainly the player I want least to leave.
 
If Pepe were happy with the situation we're in I'd be more worried, but it's still reassuring to hear he wants to stay and that NESV have impressed him so far.

I hope he stays as patient as the rest of us, but all our top players should be question what the hell is going on.

We've had two seasons of it now
 
Torres was getting the same treatment in the summer for....well....nothing really. Because he never made a public declaration of his undying love for Liverpool he was deemed a whiney, moaning disloyal git in some circles. Well by Anita (just so there's no accusation of not being direct).
 
I've been pissed off at Torres' attitude on the pitch at times - who hasn't?

But I do tend to think that people get worked up too easily about speculation, and in way forums make it so much easier to get carried away. But then I also think that if their is no truth to the rumours, the players should come out quickly to deny them. It's not much of an ask.
 
If people didn't get worked up too much by the shite the press prints then there wouldn't be a problem. I don't think the players should come out with a statement every time a paper prints bollocks. Treat it with the disdain it deserves and ignore it.
