Juventus plan Robin van Persie and Luis Suarez bid

By Ben Smith BBC Sport

Juventus have told Robin van Persie they want to pair him with Liverpool's Luis Suarez, as they bid to lure him to Italy in the face of strong interest from Manchester United and City.

The Serie A champions have had an initial enquiry rebuffed by Arsenal, who also dismissed an opening formal bid from United out of hand on Friday.

Manchester City, meanwhile, have asked to be kept informed of the situation.
United's bid is believed to be around £10m, £15m below Arsenal's valuation.

The Gunners' 28-year-old captain has a year left on his contract with all three interested clubs offering lucrative financial packages, more than doubling Van Persie's current wage.

Van Persie scored 41 goals in 53 games for club and country last season and was named Professional Footballers' Association and Football Writers' player of the year.

Arsenal had been hoping the Dutchman would sign a new deal this summer but he shocked them last month by announcing he would not extend his contract, saying he disagreed with the way the club should move forward.

Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta and president Andrea Agnelli are aware the Dutchman is not, however, motivated simply by money and - as well as offering a package worth £190,000 a week - believe it is the possibility of playing alongside Suarez that could sway his thinking.

If Juventus can secure a deal for Van Persie they will turn their attentions to Suarez and intend to raise the necessary funds by selling striker Alessandro Matri to AC Milan.
Liverpool will take a dim view of Juventus's interest in Suarez and have no intention of allowing their prized Uruguayan forward to leave the club.

Suarez is under contract at Anfield until 2016 - but the Reds are keen to tie him down to an even longer deal.
The 25-year-old has scored 15 goals since joining Liverpool in January 2011, but was also banned for eight matches after being found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra in December of that year.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has held preliminary talks with the player as negotiations continue over a new contract.

However, Juventus believe a bid of around £28m may tempt Liverpool to negotiate.
Such is the strength of Juventus's interest in Suarez that they are likely to make an offer for the 25-year-old whatever Van Persie decides to do.

Privately there is a growing confidence at Juventus that both players will move to Turin this summer.
On Friday, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed the club has made a bid for Van Persie.

"There are other clubs interested in the player," Ferguson told MUTV. "We've shown an interest and that's where we're at at the moment."

The Gunners are about to embark on a three-match tour of Asia, but Van Persie will remain in London to work on his fitness.

Juve can go and fuck them selfs with a massive red hot poker, crooked Italian cunts. Plus 28 million is well lower than it should be he is worth a good 38 million at least wankers

Just heard this on the radio i.e. about their interest in RVP and then mentioning Suarez. I suspect most LFC fans will be shocked to hear this and reading this thread - totally agree the stated transfer fee of £28M being an utter joke. Sad to say this but - but even though C.Ronaldo went for something like £80M or something, it can be argued that our purchase of a player like Carroll at £35M has totally screwed up the way players should be priced - in other words - if Carroll is worth £35M then Suarez can be valued at around £120M ?

the only slight fear in all this for me is that he still doesn't seem to have let the Evra thing go . Now whether that matters or not i don't know but some players might choose to just say "fuck you" to English football and piss off . I hope he chooses to stay and say "fuck you" by playing well and sticking it to the other teams and fans here .

But he's a dodgy south american , i wouldn't trust him to stay out of loyalty .

oh and lets be honest , sadly until we get back in the champions league at least we are going to be open to these rumours and worries .

Suarez goal return in the League in the last 2 seasons is 7+4 and 11. I think he'll beat that this season, during which he will turn 26, so we should sell him at the end of next season when we'll get more for him. Plus, the cheeks on his face are getting fatter.

Is that right Ross, how am I doing? Ha ha.

Not really. I think anyone with a modicum of common sense knows that we massively overpaid for Carroll.

Yeah, my problem with them is that they're prone to unnacceptable racial stereotyping.

I don't buy the "Suarez will go because of getting naffed off with English football" argument. I reckon that's little more than kite-flying by the media and it surprises me (though perhaps it shouldn't) that so many LFC fans have bought into it. In any case, any such possibility will be more than outweighed by his gratitude to LFC for standing up for him and his wish to repay that. Suarez could well finish his career elsewhere (in Spain would be my guess - and Juve can go f'ck themselves bandy, by the way) but I'll bet he won't be going any time soon.

He's already said he wants to stay. Juve are still a big club but the pull of Italian football is nowhere near what it was, despite the offer of CL football, playing in the Prem and Spain are still THE top draw for most players. He'll stay, Juve wouldn't attract RVP anyway.

Sell him in 2 years time.

You're learning.
