Dirk Kuyt is shit

Status
Not open for further replies.
Kuyt does go through frustrating spells of poor form particularly if you're judging by the standard of his good form which always ends up once again underlining his value to the squad.

It's true to say that every player suffers from dips in form, but the thing with Kuyt is that the contrast between the two is marked and it takes him a long time to play his way into good form. It would be nice to have options during those times.

Is that really an offensive opinion?

and that is the major problem I have with kuyt remaining in the team during a slump, we're not talking about gerrard remaining in the team where he is more than capable of moment of magic, kuyt is a disasterous player when he is in a slump, disasterous.

the truth is though, it's not kuyt's fault he gets picked during slumps and it's not kuyt's fault the squad is so thin there are few option to replace him with, but it is a problem.

he's a good player, but neil's got a point in that there are still plenty of faults in his game, because he's technically limited. for example, it's incredible just how often quick passing moves break down because of poor control or poor passing by kuyt. that happens a LOT.

and i don't know why people are rubbishing the notion that he'll drop out of the first team next season - it's entirely possible. if he plays it'll either be up front or on the wings; we've already spent £35m on a first choice striker, and what's generally rumoured to be one of our main priorities for signings this summer? yep, that's right, 'at least one winger'.

he's good, but he shouldn't be above criticism or, indeed, squad rotation.

if kuyt drops down the pecking order next season I will be amazed, I think we'd have to have our best summer since barnes, beardo and aldo for that to happen.
I think only a wide midfielder of the class of hazard will see kuyt lose his place in the first team.
so you see our front 6 staying largely unchanged? or maybe meireles being dropped?
meireles and lucas are the ones I see dropping down the pecking order along with spearing and whoever currently considered first choice at left midfield.

----------------------pepe------------------
johnson----carra---new signing---new signing
kuyt-----gerrard----new signing----new signing
------------------carrol---suarez--------------

4 big signings (or rather first team signings) with youth and the people pushed out of the first team creating the depth.

I'm a huge Dirk Kuyt fan and will always want him in the team. He does go through a bad spell but during that spell he is still working his socks off and it's not as if we had anyone on the bench chomping at the bit to replace him.

Kelly is ready.

We've got 5 clean sheets in our last 7 games. I don't understand this burning desire by some for a new starting centre back. Depth then fine, but if we spend £10m plus on one I'll be pissed off.

I think we'll definately get a new center back and an expensive one at that. we shouldn't let our recently run of clean sheets distort the image of what we need and far too often this season we've been unable to hold out for a clean sheet when under the cosh, especially away from home.

kuyt is a competent player
That right there is why everyone laughs at you Neil.

You get away with preper tirades of abuse because you seem to be decent-hearted and a likeable sort, but you talk utter fucking shite 90% of the time, and that effort above encapsulates it.

You've become a fucking joke on here I'm afraid.

I think:
A)Kuyts 'slumps' are massively overblown on here.
B)He's as close as anyone to being undroppable.

Even when he isnt playing well he's trying, giving his all, working his bollocks off, and most importantly likely at any time to get a goal.
Every year EVERY SINGLE YEAR, he gets double figures in goals regardless of where he plays. He creates, he scores (more than almost any other midfielder you can name) he will fill in and help the defence, he never stops running, he LEADS by example, he never ever complains no matter what job he is given. Hes a thoroughly good bloke and loves the club.
And when we are playing well and he gets a great GREAT run going, who better?

Theres a couple of posters on here whos anti-Dirk bias is fucking laughable.
Weird thing is every SINGLE Liverpool fan i know in real life loves dirk and would hardly ever critiscise him. Its the football manager tactical knobheads who would throw Dirk, Park, Song etc out of their teams.

Kuyt like so many others around him have looked better and better since the little magic rolled into town.

We look like two completely different teams with and without him.

His fitness next season will have as much to so with our success as anything else.
So your saying that nothing will have more of a contributing factor to our success or not next season than Dirk Kuyt's fitness?

I did poll a couple of days ago regarding what position we need to strengthen and unsurprisingly LW/LM got most votes.
So let's say that we buy a £15-25 Million left winger next season how are we supposed to line up if Kuyt is regarded as first choice RW/RM?

We're basically gonna have the same line up as we have today with everyone fit.

Lucas Gerrard

Kuyt Meireles Suarez

Carroll

Kuyt's recent form has convinced me that he should stay in the starting line up next season but who's gonna be sacrificed?
I also agree with Neil that Kuyt shouldn't be playing RM.

Kuyt will remain an integral part of our squad next season, it seems all managers love him and they can't be all wrong and the tactician's on here right.

However I do see a top class winger brought in to address that weakness and he will displace Kuyt for many games. Whether that is LW and Suarez moves to the right or into AM or RW as a direct replacement. A winger that is adept on bot wings to be preferred of course.

More than likely though Kuyt will still see plenty of action whenever injuries to the front 4 appear.

Errr was referring to Suarez..........

Kuyt is doing exceptional well though.

I said I over did it with the 'competent' remark as I think kuyt is a very good player who lets himself down with slumps that lasts for long periods (that get sweep under the carpet when he has a purple patch). long slumps followed by purple patches never sustained periods of consistenty.

you've fucked me off with your 'talking shite 90% of the time' and I'm fucking calling you on it. when the fuck am I talking I talking shite? of the top of my head I'm going to list the stuff I've got into major arguements and why I've got into these arguments and you tell me where I'm talking shite.

1. kuyt
I've said he is a very good player who has slumps which go on for too long and is afforded too much time to recover that form usually when we're losing points hand over fist.
is that a load of shite?

2. DA
I've said from a position of 6 (we are now currently 5th) it is too much to expect a jump of herculean proportions to become champions (not securing CL, becoming CHAMPIONS) and cited our away form (which has been dire for two seasons now) as a major reason why I doubt it will happen.
is that talking shite?

3. the build of a central midfield
a subject I have long since conceeded but keeps getting brought up over and over again.

4. babel
a player I 'LIKE' not a player I 'RATE' since you used to go on about the mercurial talent that is hayden fucking mullins I would have thought you of all people would recognise the distinction.

5. we weren't that good away from home?
I said this as an observersation no a critisism and listed many reason for it but the bottom line is, was I talking shite? were we good away from home in europe this season?

then we have to go a little further back

the beginning of the season

6. roy hodgson
completely the wrong choice of manager. reason I cited was his away from of the 4 years bordering on a disgrace.
was I talking shite?

7. needing to get rid of roy early into his liverpool career.
the reason I cited was the squad we currently possess (the 6th best in the league) we should be in a minimum of 6th place. was I talking shite?

8. defending too deep under roy
can't be asked to go into the ins and out of this, the bottom line is, is this talking shite?

9. the G&H refinance
I said hicks doesn't need board approval to sell his shares (which was a fact not specualtion) but I was wrong (thank god) about G&H managing to get refinance which I thought was going to be the natural conclusion of hicks getting the finance together from the sale of his shares. so my speculation of G&H getting refinance was wrong but that's all it was, specualtion.

going even further back
10. mash's erratic passing
I've observered mash struggle to hold down a place in the barca team, a lot of that would have been because they are such an attacking force they don't NEED a out and out holding midfielder but I suspect another reason is mash isn't an excellent passer of the ball (putting it mildly). you can say I was talking shite about mashes passing ability, that's your choice but he was giving the way too cheaply at anfield.

11. attacking fullbacks
an experiment that has largly failed at liverpool, either because;
a) the fullbacks weren't good enough.
b) the holding midfielders weren't good enough to cover the space they leave.
I could conceed the point as they haven't worked but I need to see tactic of attacking fullbacks utilised properly before writing it off.

even further back (koptalk days)
12. didi hamann
I said we need a holding midfielder who is better able to dictate play from a deep position to overcome the fact the holding midfielder never comes forwards with the ball to support the attacking players.
result; we buy alonso.
we can debate who was a better player didi or alonso but imho there is no question alonso made us a better team than didi did. I was at length to stress that at what didi did (breaking up play) he was probably the best in the world and certainly better than the overrated mesh.

13. getting rid of owen.
I said we need to cash in giving his injury record and the length of his contract. well, that was like a prophecy, wasn't it?

okay, there you have it about 4 years of arguements summed, you may disagree with every single one of my arguments but you tell me where I 'talk shite 90% of the time'? back up your arguments or FUCK OFF!!

Make that 5.

(nine Premier League goals in his last eight appearances)

And yet he still can't fucking trap a ball 50% of the time.

He's the most bizarre decent player ever.
