Dirk Kuyt is shit

Status
Not open for further replies.
Today was hands down his best game in English football and thats not even including his goals.

His game was flawless. I still would rather a better starting option wide right as we all know with Kuyt he could be meh for the next 5 games.

But for today lets have a Kuyt love in. It was f*cking awesome!

I was just reading this thread all calm and normal and stuff and then someone said Ashley Young.

I'd rather shove a cactus up my own cock than drop Dirk for Ashley fucking Young.

Why ? because you think he's a better player (which if you do is fair enough) or because Kuyt is a hard working, decent lad and Young is probably a bit of a prick. I'm not Young's biggest fan but over the course of a season I reckon you'd get more from him playing out wide than you would Dirk . I really like Kuyt but you can't deny he can be pretty poor for large periods of the season and we could really do with some pace out wide on both sides . I mentioned Young as we've been strongly linked with him during the last window and I think there is a bit of a general lack of decent wide men out there .

Including him. He's shit.

Kuyt on the other hand is BIG-GAME-DANGEROUS-DIRK-DIGGLER-WHAT-SCORES-HATTRICKS-AGAINST-THE-SCUM

I've never really noticed if Young's either good or bad. That may prove the point though.
[/quote]

Yep, I think I'm in that camp too. For the price I'm sure he'll fetch, we can surely do better.

Indeed, but if you were to attempt to, I'd hope it would be with something a little more interesting that Ashley fucking Young.

I'm with Mark on this, I know his limitations but I can't help but like and admire him for the reasons already mentioned. This is a game he can look back on fondly in the future when he has retired and it couldn't really have happened to a better servant of the club

i'm of the view we still need better, but i love him as a person. i'm happy for him to play for us as he'll always put in the most effort and be a menace.

He's a decent striker, given the chances. He can't beat a defence on his own, but he can clearly stick the ball in the net if the opportunity is there.

I'm glad he got a chance to prove this properly before Carroll takes over. He's shown lately that he can lead the line for us when we need him to, and good on him.

Deserves his moment of glory.

I'm sorry - "deserves his moment of glory"?

He's not Neil fucking Mellor you know.

Quite why we have to defend Dirk Kuyt on these boards astounds me.

ha!

His first season with us was promising, but not great. He looked like he'd found his feet and was going to push on.

Only we bought Torres who turned out to be monstrous for a couple of seasons. Benitez decided we didn't do 4-4-2 and so Kuyt got played wide-ish in a 4-2-3-1 which seemed to fit what we had got.

Occasionally, in those first two seasons, Torres got injured and Kuyt was asked to fill in the same role, and he paled in comparison. Without support he doesn't have the genius of a torres ... or a Suarez.

Today was a superb highlight for a competent striker at this level that has given his career to this club. The last time I had a name on replica shirt it was MacAteer, if I was to buy one now it would probably be Dalglish or Dirk.

If Dirk Kuyt continues to compete and to deliver results for Liverpool over the next 2-3 seasons he may not be remember as a 'Legend' but he will be remembered as a key component of Liverpool FC.

Quite why people don't accept that people value him but don't value him like a Gerrard or a Reina or a Carra astounds me too ...

He had a great game today. End of.

Do you want him as our full time RW on the 4-4-2 (as I doubt we won't be starting the 50 million pair when both healthy)?

I love how your Kuyt tone oscillates wildly from "not in form" to "not good enough long term" to "good squad player" to "not a right winger in a 4-4-2" depending on which one of those shit claims he's most recently rubbished.

Ask yourself why Dirk starts every. single. bastarding. week.

And that's your answer as to why he'll continue to.

I love Dirk I just think we need to be able to mix it up sometimes if he is having a mare. Try a bit of pace instead. Maybe one of these kids coming through will solve that or sign that oxo cube chamberlin whasshisname.

Ryan, much as I love Dirk, and have done since the days before he joined us, I have to say this is a question that is easily answered in a negative way.

He's played week in, week out due to the weakness of the squad more than any other reason.

If we had a specialist right-of-a-three or a decent right winger he wouldn't start. Add to that he is not anywhere near the capability of a Torres (when in form) when played where he's best, up front.

Dirk has given his best for us week in and week out, wherever he's been played. I admire this and I believe him to be a pretty decent striker, when given close support. Whatever the last few seasons of his career bring he will always be remembered as a 100% committed player for Liverpool and a legend for Feyenoord.

The way you argue this reminds me of how Brendan used to bother you with the Hayden Mullins comment, or bother me about my 'love' of Yossi when I always said he was a bench player. Ask yourself why?

The bold part is rubbish - and I think you're well aware of it, and it follows the way Brendan 'debated' in the above two examples. I've said for a while now that Kuyt is a good striker and a very good option in the 4-2-3-1 but I've never liked him at the 4-4-2. I've also said it's hard to bench him when he's off form when our squad is so weak. I also think he needs to retire a Red and has been a good servant to the club. I think most of the site would agree with that because that's being fair. Alas, once you're tarred with one of these 'Your dad is bigger than mine' lines, a proper debate is often time impossible (as you constantly prove with this player, who you would defend blindly no matter his form).

I think you're the only member of this forum who wants Dirk to start every game, even when he has his long streaks of poor form - which everyone seems to be aware of (bar you obviously).

I "blindly defend him" because of what he contributes, as opposed to some inane stubborness which you seem to think I have.

He scores double figures every year.
He scores in the biggest of games, all the fucking time. In Europe, in the League, and when it matters most.
He's second in assists to Gerrard alone.
He works his absolute ugly cock off every week.
He loves the club, the fans, his teammates, and is a perfect example to younger players coming through.

What more do you want from him?

I'm more than happy to have a debate with you about his merits too. Please, fire the fuck away.

As regards my "kills some kittens" remark, fuck knows.

I'm pissed and you took that statement out of context (I don't remember why I said it).

Aaah, fuck it.

We fucking won !

If there wasn't stubbornness mate, you'd be comfortable admitting what Dee posted (or Ross alluded to). He starts all the time, despite what you list (which is true), because of the state of our squad. I'm rather confident we'd be top 4 had he started the whole year up front, instead of that whining cunt ... but that doesn't mean I don't want him dropped when he enters his bad patches, which I'm sure you acknowledge too.

Themn - whenever I think of 'drowning kittens', I think of Torres's interview where he said he did it.
