De Gea

Major fuck up by Woodward. Add pedro to it, he has big questions to answer. Sackable surely?

How would it be sackable? We have potentially held on to one of best players for this season.

We don't even know if the fault was on our side.

Pedro looks like he just preferred Chelsea rather than us haggling over a couple of million.

The whole fucking window setup is a joke. Different dates, different times. Its 6pm in England and midnight in Scotland.

With regard to De Gea, why in God's name was it let run to the last minute?

He's fucked up a deal worth £22million pounds. If you think the owners don't care about £22million pounds, you're wrong.

How do you know he fucked it up?

And retaining De Gea for a season on low wages is worth as much IMO.

The deal didn't go through, both you and Madrid fucked up, and no way in hell is it worth it, £22million isn't a dip in the pool, no businessman is happy to throw that amount of money away due to a technicality and just shrug, especially considering the ridiculous fee for Martial was probably decided with the De Gea windfall in mind.

"There's a further twist in the David de Gea transfer farce. La Liga officials have claimed that they never received any paperwork from Real Madrid regarding de Gea's proposed transfer. "

I'd imagine many in the club including the owners will be happy the deal didn't go through.

I doubt we needed the £22m from the De Gea deal to spend elsewhere.

It's £22million pounds, if you think they won't care about it because of an unfortunate set of circumstances on the day, you'd better stick to Football Manager.

Rafa totally played Lvg on this one... De Gea to Madrid on a free in 12 months time..

Granted you might not need the 22mill in order to fund other players, but if you think your owners will right off 22mill just for 'shits and giggles' then you're off your rocker. He goes for free next summer. Someone will be getting a kicking for this at your end for getting your part wrong, same at Madrid, except they're not losing 22mill for their cockup.

Losing £22m but keeping a great keeper that will hopefullu help us get CL football again next season.

Anyway the fuck up seems to have been entirely on the RM side if they submitted no paper work. Won't be suprised if he decides to go elsewhere next season after then fucking him around.

De Gea was worth more than £22M for them last year. In my opinion he got them into the Champions League positions and he could well do so again if LVG starts selecting him.

[article]Real Madrid have just released a 10-point statement explaining step-by-step what happened in the David de Gea negotiations last night. To summarise:
1. Manchester United did not open negotiations for David de Gea's transfer until yesterday morning
2. Real Madrid, despite the short notice and difficulties caused by this, agreed to enter negotiations
3. When United entered the negotiations, they made it clear that an agreement had to be reached with Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas and started talks with his representatives
4. Real and United reached a rapid agreement on the transfer of both players. The required documents were drafted leaving sufficient time in order to proceed with the FIFA TMS procedure before the Spanish deadline. Real forwarded the contracts to Manchester United at 13.39 Spanish time.
5. Man United sent the contracts back to Real eight hours later at 21.43 Spanish time, including minor modifications. All the changes were accepted immediately by Real in order to get the player registered with TMS and the Spanish league
6. Real Madrid, after obtaining the signatures of De Gea and Navas, sent the signed contracts back to United at 23:32 Spanish time. Real then waited to receive the final documents signed by United.
7. United reached a final agreement with the representatives of Keylor Navas at 23:53 Spanish time. It was at that time that the contracts were sent to the player and signed.
8. United entered the data for De Gea into the TMS system at midnight Spanish time but not that of Navas. The signed transfer contracts were sent to Real simultaneously. Real received the full documentation at 00:02 and tried to access the TMS system, but it was already closed.
9. At 00:26 Spanish time, the computer system of FIFA TMS sent an invitation to Real Madrid to fill in the data of De Gea. Given that the deadline for registration in England remains open today, Real decided to refer the contract to the Spanish league, even knowing that the deadlines had expired
10. In short, Real has done everything necessary, and at all times, for these two transfer to go through. [/article]
