He's 20, he's hardly going to replicate Alves' goalscoring record at that age.

I reckon instead of signing this lad now if we think he's good, we should wait until he scores loads of goals and passes the peak of his career and then we can call him "proven" and then buy him for 5 times the price.

By that logic there's loads of youngsters out there to buy mate, I mean players who hasn't showed any real potential hitting 20.
 
I know some prople are not impressed by our scouting system, but I would suspect that it is a bit more sophisticated than sitting in a room watching youtube clips.
 
I think he's got a right to look at the stats and have some reservations though, even though transferring form from league to league, or even club to club (Torres, Carroll anyone?) is proven to be far from an exact science.

Maybe the talent is there even without the goals yet, perhaps he just looks like he has that something that could blossom in the right environment. Or maybe it's just poor judgement on our part. Or maybe we're not even interested.
 
Exactly, that's all there is mate. As said he can be the bees knees, the new Torres or something.

I just think there's more than a few variables pointing in the same direction as that Rangers striker link.

It's made up. If not then we've obviously scouted him thoroughly and must have seen something special, especially if the mooted prize is right. And I'd be all excited by it.

Untill then I'll hold my horses.
 
All you can do is see if we sign him and then see if turns out to be any good really isn't it?
 
well I've read a few posts on here that say they would prefer the unknown quantity of a foreign player than the known quanity of an english player.
hopefully you'll still be thinking that after you've seen this kid play.
 
Or take a stab in the dark, pretend you've watched him loads and tell everyone how shit he is based on his price/hairstyle/club/whatever and then a year after he's signed and he's playing shit, drag the thread up again and tell everyone how silly they are while looking down from your plateau.
 
Well it's the period when you're linked to a player like this that affords you a little bit of hope (even if the compilation is a bit shit)... when it's a known quantity like Downing you don't even get that.
 
Fucking plateau is a foreign word, I prefer hill, at least you know what you're getting. Sure it's not that impressive and it doesn't sound sexy and end in a vowel but you know where you are with a hill.

Why are we being linked with all these Johnny foreigners anyway, have we ditched our tried and tested British based approach?! I hope we haven't gone knee-jerk the other way.

Footballers should do that, when their club is rumoured to be in for a tasty replacement they should make really shit youtube compilations of their supposed rival and put them all over the internet.

Likewise, when a club wants to get rid of someone, start putting amazing youtube videos of them doing phenomenal things like hitting long passes into bins and stuff like that...oh...wait...
