Would anyone consider taking him in the summer?

I know he's 30+ and the last thing L'pool need is another player with a terrible injury record -
but he seems to have been injury free for much of this season and is playing some great stuff at Fulham.

Duff would give us some much need creativity and flair in midfield/attack, add experience and offer versatility - play left mid, right mid or even off the striker.

What do u think lads??
 
I wanted Duff in his pomp, right after the world cup in 2002. Sadly injuries have taken their toll on him. He is happy at Fulham i'd say and enjoying fotball again after a horrible spell at Newcastle.
 
Sorry no. He has only strung a few games together over the last 18 months, prior to that there was years of injuries. The pace he has will soon disappear, and does not seem as tricky as he once was.

To be fair to him Nessie he has had an excellent season with Fulham and has been consistently good for Ireland too in the last year or so.
Not sure if he is right for us thought, despite our problems.
 
He has excelled in the Fulham team Count, agreed. As has Super Danny Murphy. That is about their standard at their age. We are already in possession of a skwad full of average-Joes.
 
Lads i appreciate your concerns with Duff's injury record and age but in fairness we're not in a position to pick
and choose whatever player we want due to a limited budget.

In Duff you have a massively experienced premier league player who can create and score goals.

He would add alot to our team even though he doesn't have the pace or stamina he had when he was 23/24.

I don't disagree with you.
He would have been a great signing in in infamous summer of 2002 though, when we apparently had a deal in place for him but we bought Diouf Diao and Cheyrou instead. :'(
 
I would rather see us taking chances on various unknown foreigners who *may* actually turn into a player. Steady-eddies are for mid-table mediocrity, and even though we have been shite all season, we should be aiming higher than that. Whether we achieve it is a different story.

Alledgedly there was a deal done at that time, brokered through Kenny, who was still well conected at Blackburnat that time.
Bloody shame, although he was very injury prone.
 
He turned us down, not the other way around, is what I remember hearing. Duffer hasn't got enough left in his locker to persuade me to go in for him again after that.

He's in wonderfully good form for Fulham, but this ship has sailed folks.

We were after him when he was at Blackburn, and he wanted to come, but Chelsea and their petrodollars swooped and got him for 17M.

The following summer we got Harry Kewell.

Did you miss the last 10 years? None of the 'various unknown foreigners who *may* actually turn into a player' turned into one.
That said, I wouldn't want to sign Duff. I like him and he's a decent player but Fulham is about right.
 
I'm not saying buy Duff and play him every game.

However to have a player of his calibre in the squad would do more good than harm imo. Just a suggestion.


As for our current left winger...can somone please tell me what the fuck is going on with Riera ??? ???

He seems to me to be a part-time footballer - plays a few games occasionally then you never hear anything about him for a month then he starts a game out of nowhere, is benched the next then is out of the squad altogether the next. Mystery to say the least.
