Maybe 7 is a bit to cheap for Skrtel, but not by a whole lot. 8-10 mil is about right. He's not very good and he's probably on decent wedge too.
Hasn't Rodgers already said that we won't be making any more signings for the defence?
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says he doesn’t need to add another player to his defence this summer thanks to the ‘terrific’ form of Kolo Toure.
The Ivorian moved to Anfield earlier this summer on a free transfer, as Rodgers looked to add experience to his defensive line following the retirement of club stalwart Jamie Carragher. And the Reds boss says 32-year-old Toure has been in such good form he doesn’t need to worry about bolster his back-line any further before the new season.
‘Defensively, I think we’ll be fine,’ Rodgers said. Kolo has been terrific since he came in here. He may be 32 years of age but he’s super fit and in great condition.
‘He’s a player who has looked after himself all his life. His age is no barrier and he’s someone with a winning mentality.
‘We have a number of other outstanding centre-halves in Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel. We also have an up-and-coming top talent in Andre Wisdom who will be a very good centre-half for Liverpool in the future. And we still have Sebastian Coates too.’
Meanwhile Toure, drafted in to replace Carragher as an experienced head at the back, admits it will be tough for him to fill the former England international’s boots at this season.
‘I’m still really hungry for more. I still think I can bring more in football,’ he said.
‘This season is going to be massive for me. I will just try to show that I am still one of the best defenders. For a defender, 32 is nothing and physically I feel great. ‘It’s hard [to replace Carragher] because Jamie is Jamie. He was a fantastic player for Liverpool and in his time here, he was amazing.
‘For me, I just like to try to do things my way and I will try to do what I can, but I think it’s going to be really difficult to replace him. I will give my all and it’s going to be a great challenge for me.’
Apparently Skrtels move is another fucking loan.
Apparently Skrtels move is another fucking loan.
There aren't that many defenders around these days who most would agree upon being world class.
Apparently Skrtels move is another fucking loan.
If we keep loaning out high wage players I'm gonna think these rumours about the club being up for sale are true.
It makes no sense loaning out a player you don't want back, it almost always reduces their value.
if it is, for me, it's an indicator FSG are looking to sell. It has to be all about the wage bill for these guys, so they can get a higher sale value. Too much loaning of higher value players.

They don't have to be world class to be better than Skrtel and/or Agger.
There's us picking up Toure on a free from Man City's bench and he'll comfortably compete for game time against Skrtel & Agger. That shows the level these lads are at. Not terrible but not good enough. Even a 35/36 year old in his final season ended up playing the last 6 months of the season.
See, I'm always sceptical of these analyses of individual defenders. Agger, and Skrtel in particular, must've gone through about 3 or 4 periods of either being shit, mediocre, or among the best defenders in England just in 6 or 7 years. I don't really buy it.
Isn't it probably just more to do with having a coach who's good at organising a defence? Or at the very least one who prioritises it or even just plays a certain way that suits some defenders but not others.
Skrtel being worth £25m last summer and £8m this is just a fucking nonsense.
Sorry but that's just ridiculous. Do you not think that any potential buyer would see through such a transparent move if in the end the club was really up for sale ? I don't believe it is, not when we are now moving forward, and if we make the CL next year that would add substantially to the bottom - line price.if it is, for me, it's an indicator FSG are looking to sell. Indeed Froggie.
Loaning a player makes no difference to a sale, it does however make room for someone else to come in
We miss out on the £10m or so Skrtel's rated at?
It also hasn't been confirmed if there are any loan fees involved.
We got a loan fee for Andy Carroll and then that turned into a permanent transfer.
Hopefully these two loan deals to Napoli have similar contractual agreements.
How many bids have we received?
