Yes, but this is quite incompatible with the whole "Klopp only makes reactionary decisions" narrative.

But that dont fit the angry views after a loss. Its always like that.
Doesnt matter though, todays performance was awful.

We had a wonderful opportunity to make the Top 4 place ours to lose, with our rivals all playing in the FA cup we got knocked out of by Wolves.

So, obviously, we lost. But what did we learn today? What crucial lessons can we bring into the new season?

Well, nothing really, as we all know what the problems are anyway: we have the worst, slowest DM in the league; we actually have NO strikers of note; our defence is a shit-caked actrocity; our squad is too thin; Klopp is fucking hopeless at game management; our midfield isn't good enough; we have no pace; Mane is our best player by far and we have no replacement.

Mignolet (5) A mute, inert presence and left helpless for both goals. Fortunate that it wasn't worse, such was the chaos at times.

Clyne (6) Some good attacking runs, let down by mediocre crossing and lack of options ahead of him. There was no movement or runs for him to use or aim at.
Lovren (3) A laughable, Keystone Kops display of such ineffable uselessness that adjectives are almost irrelevant. He was sloppy with the ball, dived brainlessly into tackles - missing most of them - and cost us two goals.
Matip (5) When the ball is in the air, he challenges for it with all the determination, accuracy and skill of a mong in a straitjacket who's just been fired from a cannon.
Milner (6) One or two great interceptions, but had so little support on the left he often ended up having to pass to Lucas. it was that bad.

Lucas (3) A club-footed atrocity exhibition in the first half, he improved after the break in the same way that an aborted afterbirth is "improved" when it's chucked in the incinerator and the surfaces are wiped down.
Wijnaldum (4) He's good at linking play when we are well in control, but when we need him to actually take some responsibility and make things happen on his own, he disappears into the shadows and hides until everyone else has gone home
Can (5) Has been in much better form in recent weeks, so this was hardly the time to slip back into leaden mediocrity.

Coutinho (7) A superlative free-kick and a lively, creative mercurial presence until the last 30 minutes, when even his talent thought "oh, fuck this". Was quite literally the only person who looked like scoring
Firmino (4) Pissed away possession time and time again with poor passing and stupid flicks to nobody, and never looked like scoring, or doing anything that might involve scoring.
Origi (3) Why don't we talk more about Origi? Hahahahahahahahaha! This cunt wouldn't get a game at most other sides in the Premiership. Has zero striking instinct and is, frankly, a complete waste of everyone's time. Just fuck off, Divot, there's a good lad.

Surprised Coutinho didnt go to ground when he was tripped, was an obvious penalty that.

Their second goal was so comically bad. The ball from the corner never went above chest height and yet it still somehow manage to reach the centre of our penalty area.

I don't understand why you NEED to go to ground to win a penalty. Its why diving exists in the first place. If penalties and fouls were called just because they are instead of because of a reaction afterwards the whole sport would be better off.

We were okay in the first half and the much better team in the second half until their second goal. Then it went to pot.

We shot ourselves in the foot with some dreadful play for both their goals.

That was pathetic. To make it worse it was entirely predictable. Lovren is no better than Skrtel. Looks decent for a game or two then makes the most basic of mistakes a Sunday league player wouldn't make.

Clyne's crossing is dire. Origi toothless and Lucas was typical Lucas.

OY! Have some hope dude - 4th is still well within reach.

Nah. I've seen enough of how shit we are against the poorer teams to know that we won't get fourth. Our run in is against the same kind of dross that Klopp struggles against. He and our "defence"

Lovren cost us the match. I couldn't believe he got caught out with a ball over the top twice. One resulting in the goal. One resulting on the corner for a goal. Brainless owl fucker. Origi and Wijnaldum were laughably ineffectual. Lucas couldn't do only job he had to do on the pitch. It's performances like that why I wish players like Coutinho good luck when they fuck us off to play with some actual footballers. We had done the hard part by scoring the first. We just needed to hold the ball, play smart and not defend like a fucking hen do, but this preening bunch of pricks couldn't manage it. Klopp offered no tactical alternative to breaking them down once they equalised. He only sprung into life when we were losing. How did Origi made it to the end of the 90 minutes? His default mode is run away from the goal, take as many touches as the ball as possible, and then lose it. Repeat.

Palace were superb so fair play to them. Clinical up front, fought for everything and were defensively excellent. They deserved the win. Top four race certainly isn't over. We have Lallana back next week so we can sort that turgid midfield out but we seriously need to improve all over the pitch, starting with the defence. (Ha).

How many times have we lost points from winning positions? That, by the way, is the Lovrén we all know and recognise and the defending against lower down the table teams, which teams by the way make up our run in, which we have come to expect. And, I'll bet we'll spend big on another Southampton centre-half who looks dominant until he plays for a team supposedly challenging for honours.

Firmino was shit today but then he mostly is when played out wide. Origi however manages to play shit wherever he's positioned.
I've never seen a striker run away from goal with the ball as much as Origi and his lack of mobility is ridiculous. Why Klopp didn't either move Firmino into the middle or bring on one of the young strikers is beyond me. They really couldn't have done any less than Origi today he was that bad.
Klopps substitutions were fucking hopeless as well. Why put alexander arnold on at right wing only to put him at full back 5 minutes later. What was the point of putting Moreno on? He's shite and always will be.
If Lovren's injured then put Gomez on to replace him and replace Lucas with Grujic, Brewster or Woodburn on for Origi and Firmino in the middle and we would have had a better chance in my opinion.
Oh and someone needs to tell Clyne to stop being such a fucking coward and pass the ball forwards for a change.

Sam Allardyce: “On the corners everyone knows Liverpool are pretty weak.”

Can't disagree. Defence no better under Klopp than it was under Rodgers. After such big results at Stoke and West Brom to give us a really good chance for at least 4th, we're at home to relegation fodder and we churn out that muck for 90 minutes with the same old fucking mistakes and weaknesses on show once more. Gang of mentally weak pansies this Liverpool team is. Fucking bottlejobs.

No shots on goal after 97mins at home vs palace?! Worst display of the season for me. Some diabolical performances out there

Leicester away was the worst performance for me. We were outclassed that night all over the pitch.

We lost today because two or three moments of sheer incompetence.

Not really, coming from behind doesn't always involve changing the approach, sometimes you fall behind because you have a crap defense, while the rest of your game is functioning well. We changed things at Stoke and won it, but we started without two of our best players and then put them on when things went tits up, it wasn't exactly tactical or revolutionary.

Yeh but they aren't. So in the meantime we aim to win the FairPlay league rather than playing the same game everyone else does. We need to be more ruthless and cynical. We're not playing rounders with he neighbours

Klopp's defense is debatably worse than Rodgers now I would imagine? Must be fucking close.

To be fair to Coutinho, he's three yards out and thinks he's going to get his shot away. It's a different situation if you're on the edge of the box with it all to do. He'd worked the opening and thought he could finish the job.

I don't disagree with what you say here but the number of times we have come back from behind does suggest that Klopp's inability to change things is overstated.

Yes, that was my take on it aswell. He was clearly fouled mind, so we could have gotten a penalty there

It's not really improved, I wouldn't say it was any worse, but we still suffer exactly the same shortcomings. He bought two centre halves, a keeper and converted Milner and Lucas to defenders, so it's his defense more or less. It's not like he's playing with Rodgers' backline, he bought two duds and Matip has been decent but not the complete cure.

I'm not sure what you'd do to change a game when the opponents resolutely stick 11 between the ball and the goal at all times, except buy more players like Coutinho, perhaps.

Let's try that tactic. Our competitors tend to do that and it seems to be working.

I agree with the earlier post about the foul too, it shouldn't matter whether he stays on his feet, if it's a foul it's a foul. If the same happened outside the box and Coutinho stayed on his feet and didn't gain the advantage, we'd get a freekick.

Poor today. Should have won the game om first half but we were poor at finishing. Gave away a soft goal too. So some posters will have their wankfest again. I see we already got the ratings in place. Which mean we didn't win.
