Wow. Downer.

Still, with Suarez & Coutinho playing for us anything is possible.

Yeah, we have to believe its possible. Perhaps Steve Peters will have a part to play. 😛

Chelsea could've lost to West Brom or at least held to a draw by Man City whereas Tottenham needed a late penalty to beat Hull and were defeated at home by West Ham and Newcastle.

The Premiership is full of surprise results and anything could happen. We must believe that we can go and get the points or else what is the point?

Spurs 2-0 Liverpool
Liverpool 4-1 Cardiff
City 3-1 Liverpool
Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool
Liverpool 3-0 Hull

I just can't see it lads.
Why on Earth will Man City belt us? After nearly half the season, we are ahead of them on points.
They score a lot of goals to be sure - but so do we. If we go in positive, I think we can beat anyone. Even without Gerrard (who, by the way, has been pretty muck most of the season).
I think we will take at least 9 points from that lot including a win at City.

Because City are phenomenal at home, if we were at home, we'd have a much better chance. I won't say no chance, but it's a very small chance that we could get something from the game.

Spurs 1-1 Liverpool
Liverpool 1-0 Cardiff
Man City 2-1 Liverpool
Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool
Liverpool 2-1 Hull

8 points & +1 goal difference, drop to 4th/5th at halfway point of season.

Looking at what Everton did to the Arse yesterday, anything is possible in this league but if were still in the top 4 after the Hull game I will be pleased - anything more is dreamtime.

Looking at all the fixtures fwiw this is where I think we will be in the table after the games on the 1st Jan.

Arsenal 45pts
Man City 43pts
Everton 39pts
Chelsea 38pts
Liverpool 37pts
Spurs 37pts
Man utd 35pts
Barcodes 34pts
S'ton 27pts

We basically have 3 top class players and we are missing two of them for these games.
It's the optimism that kills ya.

Id agree with that bar Everton, they wont take 11 from the next 15 points available, they draw a lot of games (4 of their last 6) and they have a small squad so think they will probably stumble at some point. 36 points for them I reckon. The real worry is Utd who have a very winnable run of games if they can get their act together

Spurs 2-1 Liverpool
Liverpool 4-1 Cardiff
Man City 4 -1 Liverpool
Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool
Liverpool 1-1 Hull (or 2-1)

4 or 6 points max

Jesus you all really think City are going to batter us. Maybe it's naught but a fools hope, but if that's all it is, then I hope that our men stride on to the Etihad as fools and play like they still believe we can win it. If we are going to lose then let us make it such an end as would be worthy of a song!

Forgive them Dirty Sanchez, for they know not how low their footballing self esteem has fallen after 5 years of deprivation

Spurs 1 - 2 Liverpool
Liverpool 4 - 1 Cardiff
Man City 3 -2 Liverpool
Chelsea 2 - 2 Liverpool
Liverpool 3 - 0 Hull
Top of the league by New Years, no problem.

This is what my heart feels - this is going to be a special season for us ... So I do want to believe we're going to win 4 of these 5 games. But with the injuries piling up, it will be tough. Hull was an aberration ... We are heading into 2014 in top 3.

Hope you're right but Fulham and Sunderland at home 6 points and draws with Stoke Southampton and Swansea tbh I think 9 points is the least they will get. Utd unfortunately have a great chance of going on a run - if they don't maybe Moyes out by the new year?

[article=http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2013/dec/13/liverpool-brendan-rodgers-away-record]During his 18-month spell on Merseyside Rodgers has failed to win away from home against any of the so-called top six. Even with fixtures at Anfield taken into account the Northern Irishman has presided over only two victories in 15, a 3-2 win over Spurs last season and a 1-0 triumph over Manchester United in September.

Liverpool have conceded two or more goals in 12 of the 15, and have, on average, conceded the first goal against a top-six side away from home in the 23rd minute.

Only once have the team kept a clean sheet into the second half of these fixtures. In the corresponding meeting with Spurs last year Liverpool were 2-0 down inside the first 15 minutes and playing catch-up. It's a familiar tale for Rodgers' Liverpool.

But big-game struggles are nothing new in the recent history of Anfield managers. It took Rafa Benítez until his fifth season, 2008-9, before he took three points from Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford; between 2004 and 2010 the Spaniard lost 16 of 26 away games against legitimate title and Champions League rivals.[/article]
