• This table shows what the Premier League would look like if the costs of buying the players on each team were taken into account.
• The transfer costs of each squad consist of any fees paid by the club to other clubs in order to obtain the players currently in the squad. The costs also include loan fees in cases where a fee has been paid to another club in order for a player loan to take place.
• The transfer costs for each squad have been calculated based on a review of all available information.
• Each club's 'expected points' target is based on the club's transfer costs as a percentage of all transfer costs in the league. The expected points are calculated by applying the club's cost percentage to the total number of points earned in the league so far.
• The difference between a club's expected points and the actual points the club has earned becomes that club's score in the Cost Adjusted Premier League.
• The revenue gained by a club when players transfer away does not influence this chart. The Cost Adjusted Premier League is based on the costs of acquiring the players currently in each squad.
• This chart does not take into account other factors which can influence player recruitment, such as wages, bonuses, and opportunities for players to make additional income through endorsements and promotions. It is almost impossible to quantify all these factors. The gap between the highest squad costs and the lowest squad costs would almost certainly increase further if all factors were taken into account.
