Technically, we've only got four.
Riera wasn't part of the Euro 2008 squad. But still it seems that playing regularly for us is a direct ticket to the national team. Lil Louis and Arbeloa got their first caps after they joined us. Alonso established himself in the team thanks to us. I guess Reina who wasn't a regular in the Spanish team, has Liverpool to thank as well.

Is Riera a regular choice over Silva?
Silva's not fully fit at the moment...

Riera has looked really good though.

Riera has looked very good for them in this tournament. He's given them some natural width, which they don't have on the right at the moment.

Still, only one of our boys was a regular in Euro2008, although now we have two (for the time being) as Alonso is first choice under Del Bosque.

Who does Iniesta replace in the starting line up?
If I remember it correctly this is how Spain lined up in the Euro's:

Ramos Marchena Puyol Capdevilla

Senna

Iniesta Silva
Xavi

Villa Torres

So It seems as if Riera has Silva's spot and Fabregas is playing instead of Iniesta. But Xavi has been moved to the right and Fabregas is playing right behind the Strikers.

So, the team that is 35 unbeaten 15 wins on run and the verge of a World record run prefers our current left winger to the one that people want to break the bank for?

Just asking.

How old is Senna now? When fit does he still start ahead of Alonso?
Judging by recent world cup qualifying games I'd have to say no. Xabi is first choice. But he hasn't really cemented his place. I guess it's down to form and who the opponent is.
He's about 32, I think.

Dosseana.................................

3-0

Classic Dossena - a flat-footed appeal for offside 40 yards out, then a desperate run back and an own goal. :'(

Dossena O.G. 3-0 Brazil. To be fair, he couldn't do much about it.
You cant blame him for the goal but his positioning prior to was laughable.

Yeah.. didn't see that at first showing.

Though, again, to be fair, the whole Italy side has been sh*te.

His attempt to catch Fabiano offside was a bit laughable. Anyway Pirlo's team talk at half time

" Once upon a time in Istanbul......."

Keown don't half talk some sh*te.

"Brazil have always seemed to lack a top quality striker".

FCUK ME. My God. What an idiot.

four top class strikers in 40 years? that's a poor return for top nation isn't it? 😉
Zico was my boyhood hero. Thats why i want Dzeko.

Ps-Italy need major surgery. This is a creaking aged monster. I dont watch a lot of u21 but it would be almost worth sacking this team off and starting again.

Great piece of commentary there
Bright-'Now the Americans will believe. Imagine what the team talk will be like in their dressing room now!'
other bloke-'lots of whoopin and hollerin one would imagine'

lol.
