On Djibril Cisse:
"here we have Cisse, right wing, attempts to put in a cross, BANG...hits the full back, again BANG hits the full back, BANG...off the full back again, and once more, BANG...smacks the full back again.... Millions of euro and he can't clear the first man, I mean...what's he trying to do to the full back here, Kill him??"

He'll take an international job, or a job in Qatar or something if he does leave.

I don't think he will leave, there's a chance Barca could finish this season trophyless, and he must feel like he's got to get Barca back on their pedestal.

They've won three trophies I think (albeit minor ones), and will probably win the Spanish version of the FA Cup.

Reports are saying he's done ... I don't know why he would walk away now after this season and all the doubt about Barca's style. Let's see what the man does.

Ah yeah forgot about them! But they pale in comparison to La Liga and CL. Even if they do win the Copa Del Rey the season will still be viewed as a disappointing one for them.

Perhaps Pep's just burnt out but I would be surprised if he left.

Tbh, unless he's burnt out, I don't get why he's leaving ... You have a chance to dominate world football with Messi for the next 5-10 years and be considered amongst the greatest managers ever. Why leave such an amazing project?

That being said, I'd be very interested to see how he'd adjust to another league or to another team. Because he won't be able to transfer his system to another team ...

Barcelona's Pep Guardiola on brink of leaving club
Pep Guardiola is understood to be on the brink of ending his tenure as manager of Barcelona after telling the club he can not carry on.
The 41-year-old Catalan will announce his intentions at a press conference at the Nou Camp on Friday afternoon.
And barring a last-minute change of heart, Guardiola is expected to confirm his departure from the club he has led to two Champions League titles.
The Barcelona manager has arranged to meet his players on Friday morning.

The reason you outlined is why I thought he wouldn't leave.

From a few newspaper reports I've read, apparently he's always harboured ambitions of managing in England which would be very interesting.

is this really that big a surprise ? I mean he only signs one year contracts so that says alot on his thinking for how long he can do the job . They say he puts everything into the job and thinks over ever little tiny aspect of it . He does come across as very stressed and worn out by the position. I mean aren't there those before and after pictures from when he took the job to a few seasons in, he looks to have aged 10 years and lost all his hair .

I guess the only surprise is that he hasn't been up for the fight of trying to regain the league from madrid and win the champs league again next season . In saying that though i don't think he had the best season this year . He seemed to rotate way too much and never fully settled on his best team . Perhaps that is due to years of continuous football catching up with the team but whatever, it seemed like he was fiddling too much with a winning formula .

It will be interesting to see if he takes up another role somewhere in future and how he'll do there , i wouldn't be surprised if he struggled .

Unless (and it's likely) Guardiola is going to step down due to exhaustion/needing some time out, I'd be personally a bit disappointed if he goes. Sure, it seems Barca might be at the end of a cycle, but what sets great managers (even cocknose himself) apart is their ability to build more than one side and stay ultra competitive whilst bringing through a new side. Wenger (an excellent manager imo) gets judged harshly for his inability to build a new winning side (even though he's spent net zero).

I would have liked to see if Pep could do that.

Agree completely. The next step could be the most interesting yet.

A certain Antonio Barragan playing tonight for Valencia?

Remember him?

He looked great for a few months in our reserves. Shame he didn't want to stick around.
