Which teams have made it to the Champions League last-16?

Seeded
  • Barcelona (ESP, Group F)
  • Bayern Munich (GER, Group B)
  • Juventus (ITA, Group D)
  • Liverpool (ENG, Group E)
  • Manchester City (ENG, Group C)
  • PSG (FRA, Group A)
  • RB Leipzig (GER, Group G)
  • Valencia (ESP, Group H)
Unseeded
  • Napoli (ITA, Group E)
  • Real Madrid (ESP, Group A)
  • Tottenham (ENG, Group B)
  • Dortmund (GER, Group F)
  • Lyon (FRA, Group G)
  • Chelsea (ENG, Group H)
  • TBC - one of Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb or Atalanta
  • TBC - one of Atletico Madrid or Bayer Leverkusen
How does the draw work?

The top teams in each Champions League group are seeded and second-placed teams are unseeded.
The eight seeded and eight unseeded teams are placed in two separate bowls, with one picked from each to determine each of the eight last-16 ties.
The eight seeded teams can face any of the other eight unseeded teams (and vice-versa).

So we can add Atalanta (who jumped from 4th to 2nd tonight with their win in Shaktar, and Dinamo losing to City) to the list of 5 teams we could get drawn against. On the minus side is the fact they probably are better than Shaktar and Dinamo Zagreb but on the positive side we should still beat them and we won't have as far to travel or freezing temperatures to adjust to.

Shit, just realised we can't be drawn against Lyon..................

City have 5 potential opponents in the next round too, Napoli, Real Madrid, Dortmund, Atletico Madrid or Lyon..............given Man City's incredible run of easy draws in all cup competitions for the last 2 seasons it will very obviously be City v Lyon.

Ha ha. City Real would be interesting

Yep in order of preference

Atalanta
Lyon
Dortmund
AM
Real
  1. Lyon – we will beat them and can also scout a few players
  2. Atalanta – very disciplined and tactical
  3. Real – won't be disappointed if we get them; our players will be up for it and we can wreck their season by eliminating them
  4. Dortmund – one of the few clubs that can match us with emotion of the home crowd, it would be a real battle
  5. Atletico – the worst draw for sure; hope City get them

Is that saying there's no same country restrictions, and that we could draw Chelsea or Spurs?

Have to say, PSG are looking a real threat this year. With Neymar back, their quality in attack is among the best in the competition and Tuchel seems to have forged a better team structure and spirit than they've had in years.

To illustrate the latter point, this is what Neymar, of all people, said after the game:

Would of course be more happy with Lyon and Atalanta than the others.

So what would like to see ?

I'm going with this (bookies odds to win it in parentheses) :

Liverpool (9/2) vs Lyon (100/1)

City (3/1) vs Real Madrid (8/1)

Spurs (25/1) vs PSG (7/1)

Chelsea (33/1) vs Barca (6/1)

Juve (12/1) vs. Dortmund (40/1)

Bayern (8/1) vs. Atletico Madrid (25/1)

Valencia (100/1) vs. Napoli (40/1)

RBL (40/1) vs Atalanta (100/1)

Strange odds, I'd price them something like..............

Liverpool 4/1
PSG 4/1
Man City 4/1
Bayern 7/1
Barca 9/1
Real Madrid 12/1

The bookies are all convinced this is the year City finally go all in for the CL (after missing out on the Prem). They certainly have the team to do it...

They've every chance which is why I priced them as joint favourites, but I can't see why the bookies have them as short as 3/1. Unless, maybe the bookies are factoring in the facts that we might be distracted by our chase for our first League title in decades and City might be freed up by being out of the title race soon.

If they avoid English teams they have a big chance

If city get Real I wonder how they would react if Ramos takes out two of their players with his "tactics"?
