I know he's not had the best of starts at Liverpool but I'm absolutely certain he's going to be a real player for us. Legend-potential even.

Despite popular belief I thought he was very good in the first game despite not beeing at his sharpest. Lot of interaction, lot of good first touches and immense workmanship.

He's got such a strong shot and when he's at this best I can't see any defender out there cope with him because of his good use of his awesome physique. With the right personel around him, not least Suarez, I believe we've got a potential world class striker and strike-partnership on our hands.

I've been very pleased with his start despite him yet to hit the form he showed at Newcastle.

I for one believe he could indeed turn out to be worth every penny.

*Perhaps this has been done elsewhere I just thought I'd give my take on the big lad.

There's times I wish he'd bust a gut a bit more, Suarez was everywhere last week and there was a few times when Carroll plodded around and failed to make runs just to get another body in the box or to give the player the option of the pass, he made a good run for one of our chances against Arsenal though, but he needs to do it more often. The issue will always be goals, the longer he goes between scoring the fee will always be a big weight on his shoulders.

Thats a joke right...... 😱
[/quote]

Based on a couple of games it's difficult to make a judgement either way, even though some idiots seem to have written him off already.

One Andy Carroll, there's only one Andy Carroll!

No. Not joking.

I really believe in the big guy. Wouldn't swap him for any other targetman at this point in time.

Agree with this.

But I just can't see him not score for a prolonged period in time. He's got every chance to be a real star and he'll start banging them in sooner rather than later.

I don't see it. The most I'm hoping for is a good player.

Kudos if you end up being proven right though.

Where in the rule book does it say you need a target man, there are plenty of other strikers i would swap him for. The obvious follow up question is why did we buy a player like Carroll who only has one dimension to his game when that seems to be totally at odds with the style of football we are set up to play.

I dont think he will get more than 12 league goals this season

I thought he was epic at Newcastle, but the whole team was geared towards him.
Im not sure he is going to get that luxury here.
Suarez is the obvious fulcrum of our play and we are going to look to him more often than not.

Ive got a feeling we've wasted 35m.

I could be very wrong obviously.

I just think he's shown a lot of signs already (am basing some of my judgement on his time with Newcastle as well) to convince me about his great potential.

*He should start come Exeter as he could do with a goal to break the deadlock.

Is it the wording or do you simply disagree that he's got great physical attributes to show?

I'm quizzed.

I think his qualities like most centre forwards will end up being under-appreciated and people will always put emphasis on the amount of goals he gets. He'll do alot of donkey work and make openings for others, sometimes show a poor first touch and look cumbersome, but the results will come regardless because of the fact he'll give defenders something to think about. It's less predictable than Torres on his own because arguably it can take two players to mark Carroll and two for Suarez at times, while others like Ming will benefit, but each will get less goals than Fernando while the team will chip in alot more.

As long as the results come I don't really give a shit, but at £35m he's on a hiding to nothing.

No book says that. But I like the idea of a Suarez/Carroll pairing more so than a Suarez/Aguero pairing for instance. To similiar in style.

And I'm feeling overly confident that he'll bag closer to 20 than anything else. Perhaps more. Our top goal-scorer even.

its disbelief.

Hes a skinny unathletic bloke

1. carroll vs liverpool in the newcastle away game last season was incredible. INCREDIBLE.

2. man city at home we played pass and move football with carroll in the side.

3. the team doesn't support him enough, or gamble enough when we play the ball to him.

4. carroll's movement is currently poor but I have seen good movement from him in the past.

Are we talking about the same guy here?

Tall, big lad, stature like an American fridge?

Not saying he can't bulk up even further but he's already very strong and quite mobile as well.

Just don't see any skinny bloke when I look at Carroll.

The kind of player that scores you 10 in five when he hits form.

I'd take one in three from a centre forward, especially when we'll likely get 10 goals each from Kuyt and Ming.

if we treat him like a lump (i.e. playing yards behind him, giving him long ball to feel off) he will perform like a lump.
we should be playing higher up the pitch, regardless of the risk of the counter attack (no guts no glory).
we should be compressing the play
we should be buzzing around carroll like a flies round shit

this will allow us to exploit the gaps the defenders leave when sucked towards carroll
this will allow us to snatch onto the second ball should carroll win the header

carroll hasn't been great we the entire team has had a hand in that and it will take the entire team to make carroll realise his potential, not by turning into wimbledon but simple supporting him more.

No.

I'm suggesting that when he hits scoring form goals will come in flocks. Don't know whether that's been the case in Newcastle but he looks like the type of player to me is all.
