After being humped by a Dortmund side missing their first choice defence, what do they need to do ?

Unless there's some strange way of deciding, it looks like they need to beat Arsenal by a shedload ?

But Dortmund are playing Marseille ?

And need the result too, but Marseille don't

You never know. Marseille will be playing for their pride (and players will be playing for their place in the team for next season no doubt).

Think if they win 3-0 and Dortmund win, the both of them go through. Which would be quite funny for the arse.

Don't know but .... Come On Sami, batter those Manc bastards !

(still a chance United will fail to qualify for the next round and go into the EL instead, a loss tonight and draw their last match at home to Shaktar).

It was the group of the death so you can get away with being knocked out of that group.

Their league form needs to stay very strong though.

I thought you'd write that since it was the group of death you'd have to expect some deaths.

poor the rafa.. talks of spurs wanting him this morning..

he will win the europa league most probably and thanks to rafa, like last season we will bask in another teams glory.. 😗😗

- Difficult group, only prior experience in CL was in 2011

- New system (compared to Walter Mazzarri's)

- Thin squad (last season Mazzarri tinkered with Europa league line ups to try and stay in contention for title challenge, finishing 6 points behind the leaders during group stage, pipping 3rd placed team by 2 points and then being knocked out at Round of 32 by Viktoria Plzen 5-0), 3 central defenders on the bench yesterday while the only striker is new to Europe.

- Injury to key players - Zuniga, Hamsik

If only his valuation will increase with his performances

The Europa League will be more distracting and they'll last longer in it.

I doubt it, he would prioritise Champions League games over domestic fixtures but I doubt that would happen with the Europa, it just becomes an international version of the Carling Cup for teams that drop in from the Champions League. Wenger would be putting out the youth team every Thursday and resting the star players for the league fixtures.

In terms of a distraction the Champions League is a much bigger deal, so I want them in it, at least for another round. Same goes for Utd Chelsea etc. A humiliating quarter final exit is the best way forward. That said Id love to see Utd finish 2nd in the group and draw Bayern in the next round, an early heavy defeat combined with languishing in midtable would see them start tearing strips off each other
