We've certainly got money to spend to improve the team. A left back and a holding midfielder who can control the tempo would be great.

He won't learn from it, same shit we've been seeing since October when he took over and even before then.

This team is a complete shambles and we've spent 70m and not even improved from last season.

Yep, shambles. We're gonna be relegated. Klopp will do a Rafa and manage in the championship.

Could you knee jerk any more?

A few posts above us mate

They haven't really, it's even been explained, but to reiterate, we haven't filled THE two crucial positions after spending £70m. If you want proof that's 100% valid - our left back cost us last week, and our lack of a domineering midfielder cost us today. So yeah, we've got an exciting new winger and keeper, both of whom are injured, and we're still pissing goals everywhere.

Well I wouldn't go that far, We won't finish below 10th (i hope) but we certainly won't be making top 4.

Everything about LFC is very very predictable including the league finish.

How did our left back cost us last week?

We won and 2 of their goals came from the right back position who also was also part of the error that lead to Burnley's first goal.

We won, but he cost us in terms of getting a grip on the game, the fact we won doesn't give him a reprieve, and if it does, then that's exactly why we are where we are. He gave away a penalty and was at least partly culpable for Walcott's goal. I'm not quite sure what difference it makes that he got a let off.

We lost a grip of the game after their 2nd and 3rd goal.

And he's not getting a reprieve. He lost his starting position to a CM, that's not a reprieve.

Then this guy will come on to save the day...

I'm willing to wager that by the end of the season, and probably much earlier depending on how ruthless and quickly Klopp will act, the central midfield will most likely be Grujić and Can. Wijnaldum, Lallana and Henderson will be scrapping for the third midfield berth and if they're not careful, even Lucas will keep them out 😉 I don't also think Clyne is as secure in that right-back position as some may assume with the shrill focus on Moreno meaning he has largely escaped scrutiny or been given a pass but he has to be under some scrutiny-- Trent A-A and Andre Wisdom are lurking.

You don't need a decent defensive midfielder to beat a Team like Burnley end fucking of..

That was a big bag of dicks. I did think we would be inconsistent but fuck me that was horrid. What can we do? Complain? Yep. Hope that Can coming back makes Henderson play less or at least not that position.

Anyways. Fucking nightmare game. Burnley. I say it again. Burnley.

I didn't watch the 2nd half, went out for stroll instead. I just knew that we wouldn't be able to turn it around.
Anyway....
The problem today wasn't our summer signings and it wasn't the style we played or the formation or the tactics. I just think it's wrong of Klopp to shoehorn several players into the line up.

Milner as a left back. (he wasn't too bad to be honest)

Henderson as a defensive midfielder. Brendan tried that and it blew up in his face too. He just can't play in that position.

Lallana as a CM.

I really hope this is the last time we see Henderson playing there and Lallana too.

Maybe this is the reason Klopp wasn't so quick to get rid off Lucas?

I agree. We were set up all wrong today and thats on Klopp. The lack of those two purchases werent the reason we lost today.

We seem to struggle to break teams down when there isnt any pace in the side. Since Mané was out injured we should probably have started Origi.

Starting both Wijnaldum and Lallana wasnt the right call today.

In normal cases yes that's true, in our case I think we do. Need proof?
Check livescore.com

Dont think you need a defensive midfielder but we definetly needed a holding player that could control the tempo.

And who's the best we've currently got?
Please be honest now. Who is the most stable player we have in the squad who can play in that position?

Yes we need a DM.. but really is it required for playing a Team like Burnley.. I would say no.. If Yes.. then we are in serious trouble..

Klopp set us up wrong.. He will learn from it.. We lacked pace and our finishing was awful..

Thats all their is to it...
I would have thought he would have learnt that from last season.

I watched 40 minutes now, and based on tip from bro, decided not to bother at all.

Here's my take away from the first 40 minutes
  • 1st goal is Clyne's fault - Shitty, stupid pass. He wasn't great against Arsenal, and now this? Worrying.
  • Sturridge was fucking crap - I thought he looked lazy and hurts the team. That ball Coutinho played him seemed like the one from Newcastle years ago and I was blown away at his complete lack of speed, or lack of interest to really make a play at it. 2nd goal on him too for giving it up so fucking cheaply. Ryan's post wasn't necesary - If someone offers us 20 million, I'd sell without thinking twice. Our best finisher? Yes, but he doesn't fit into the style Klopp seems to want to play.
  • I fucking HATE these short corners - just aim for fucking Lovren every time and hope he scores. Better than the shit short crap that has never worked.
  • Whoever missed the 'yellow card' foul to stop the play before the 2nd goal is a tart.
  • Milner won't work as a LB - it's not that he's not good enough, but teams will just let him have the ball constantly and he slows down the play & hurts Coutinho
  • Oh, Coutinho world class? The next jump? No, give me 5 straight games of 8/10 performances and I may hope for something like that.
  • Firmino will always frustrate us because he's as maddingly inconsistent - despite a great work ethic - as Coutinho.
  • I am a big believer in Klopp but a few of his traits worry me
  • Defense? 5 goals in 110 minutes? Yikes.
  • If you don't have Mane, and Milner is behind Coutinho, you need a striker who can strike SOME fear into the back 4 b/c of speed. We had 0 speed really ...
  • The midfield is so unsettled - Henderson is a good solid CM, but where does he fit in a Klopp team if we compare his midfielders at Dortmund when they were wrecking Germany? Gini doesn't seem to fit in the withdrawn CM spot either ...
  • Early days, but this Liverpool team seems to have similar problems yet again.

I'm fed up.

I stayed in instead of taking my little girl out to watch that shit. I know it's not quite the same as forking out cold harsh cash and dragging my ass in the rain to watch it but still. I guess I shoulda known better.

It's all more or less been said. Same 'ol Liverpool yada yada yada.

I wish Klopp hadn't have come out with the whole "this is my team" shit. I know he means well but if this is it... well, it's just depressing.

The end of the summer is approaching and we're playing Milner at LB, the team is stuffed with powder puff one-paced attacking midfielder types that will give you an 8/10 performance one week and a 4/10 the next. I know it's early days, I know there are still players to come into the side but the start of the season is here and now and this is us.

Same old predictable shitty can't be bothered to turn up Liverpool.

Why the fuck are we discussing a defensive midfielder..

That was not the problem today..

We had 80% possession and a stupid amount of shots on target..

The problem was square pegs round holes, pretty much as Wizzy highlighted and players just not upto the task.

That is it...
