Our Rodgers is clearly the nicer-looking manager, nicer smile, better-shaped guns, probably smells nicer too, and is the victor so far with Round 1 of the season going to us.

But, who do you think is the better coach? Moyes has recently been called, variously, a clown and a dinosaur in his coaching.

[article=http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/224565.html]A leading Dutch fitness coach, who has worked with some of the world's top clubs, has launched a scathing attack on David Moyes after Robin van Persie picked up a minor injury on Manchester United's pre-season tour.

Former Wales assistant manager Raymond Verheijen, who has helped coach Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City, branded Moyes' methods "Jurassic Park".[/article]

While Rodgers came with coaching credentials (especially his work with youths) endorsed by no less than Mourinho.

[article=http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2012/may/30/brendan-rodgers-liverpool-manager]"I'm a big fan of his, and not just now. Young Frank Lampard worked with him at Chelsea and spoke highly of him. Frank Sr worked with him at Watford and went to Reading with him, and he used to tell me how good he was. They [Swansea] absolutely slaughtered Fulham last week – and Fulham aren't a bad team but they couldn't get near them. That's what they can do to you. If you aren't prepared to press them and try to make it difficult for them, they'll play round you and keep the ball and open you up. That's a credit to the manager. They should let every youth coach in the country go and watch them and learn." - Harry Redknapp

"I like everything in him," his former manager Mourinho once said. "He is ambitious and doesn't see football very differently from myself. He is open, likes to learn and likes to communicate."[/article]

With our academy planning coming to fruition and a first-team picture taking shape and direction, Rodgers seems to be the glove that fits. Moyes, on the other hand, is increasingly looking like a hand-me-down.

Rodgers, obviously, is far, far, better. But when you're manager of a club that has won lots of titles recently, you don't need to coach. Ginsoak just kept cherry-picking bright young coaches. That also allowed him to sidestep any flak that came the team's way - if something goes wrong, get a new coach. The better question is: who makes the better decisions? That's much tighter, although Rodgers is surely out ahead in terms of good footballing instincts. Moyes, you'd suspect, is going to get more and more compromised by an essential conservatism that might have suited a club trying to avoid slipping down the table but certainly won't suit a club trying to win something.

Great reply, Macca. Yeah, in bigger clubs, the coaching set-up becomes the important factor. Moyes made the major misstep of bringing in the Everton backroom, effectively Evertonizing the club.

You have to give Moyes some time to find his feet though.

Remember BR brought the Swansea with him too until he finally realised that he really was manager of Liverpool FC. Every new manager needs a bit of the familiar to help them steady the ship.

One day Moyes is going to realise that he's now manager of an uber-cunt club with loads of cash and start signing the Ozils of this world. That, or he becomes Roy Hodgson.
