So how strong a team do we field for this?

Rest Suarez, Gerrard, Johnson, Ming and Henderson

-------------------------Jones--------------------------
Kelly--------Toure-----------Skrtel-----------Smith
-----------------Allen-----------Coady----------------
Sterling--------------Countinho----------------Ibe

--------------------------Studge-----------------------

Coady's on loan to Sheffield Utd until the end of Feb.

Why play Jones?

Play Gerrard - he needs to get a bit of form going.

433 rather than 4231

Coutinho and Sterling both badly need a rest I think, we need them fresh for the Derby. Suarez on the bench for sure, Sturridge maybe starts, but Aspas should get some significant minutes. Would love to see LAR get some serious minutes, Ibe as well.

Mignolet should be starting, he could use the extra match time given he's been a bit shaky lately. Gerrard probably needs some minutes. Maybe a half of Gerrard and a half of Allen...

Sakho should start if fit, I'd like to see him in the Derby side as well, and a warm-up match could do some good. I would guess Skrtel paired with him. Johnson will probably start with Cissokho again, but I would like to see Kelly get into the side.

Mignolet; Kelly, Skrtel, Sakho, Johnson/Flanagan; Alberto, Allen, Teixeira, Ibe, Aspas; Ngoo Subs: Jones, Cissokho, Toure, Coutinho, Rossiter, Moses, Sturridge

Sterling's season really started only in December, and Coutinho has already missed a fair chunk of the season through injury; plus - his minutes have gone down since January, with him only completing the full 90 minutes once. They shouldn't be exhausted at this point. If anything, Coutinho needs the minutes to get his confidence back again, while Sterling probably could do with games to keep his momentum going.

If Sakho is fit and Lucas isn't, I'll go with the below. I prefer Allen playing further up than at the base of the midfield three, though that means we're experimenting with Gerrard there again. We should've been experimenting against Bournemouth instead of recklessly testing against Villa though.

------------- Jones --------------
Kelly - Skrtel - Sakho - Smith
------------ Gerrard -------------
----- Alberto ----- Allen --------
Sterling -- Aspas -- Coutinho

subs: Mig, Toure, Johnson, Henderson, Rossiter / Ibe (but I expect Moses to be picked instead), Sturridge, Suarez

Shit I forgot 🙁

Who out of the Ressies deserves a chance.

Why not play Jones? Not a bad idea to give your backup a game when you can to keep them somewhat match fresh.

Gerrard needs to be fresh for the derby.

We play the Derby on Tuesday, so players like Gerrard and Suarez can't play this game, Sturridge is debatable as well, maybe let him start but take him off after 60minutes. I'm at 6 and 7s over Sakho too, I want him to start the derby, we badly missed him against Villa, however he hasn't played much recently, flip side is I don't want to over do it, maybe playing 60mins also against Bournemouth would be an ideal comprise. Other than that, Aspas, Alberto and Moses are all certs to start, despite him being a machine, i'd also rest Henderson, Coutinho and Sterling, but then, we're starting to run out of players.

Mignolet

Kelly
Toure
Sakho
Smith?

Allen
Rossiter?

Moses
Alberto
Aspas

Sturridge

That's not the strongest team, and maybe I'm disrespecting Bournemouth, I'm not intending too, but it's imperative that we beat Everton next Tuesday, if we don't put Bournemouth to bed early though, it's really going to hamper us.

I had a silly dream last night that we let Moses go back to Chelsea, Everton nabbed him on loan and then he went to score the winner against us in the derby and celebrated like a prick. Fuck that guy!

I'd like to play a strong team ideally but the Everton game is pretty big for us so we're going to have to compromise a little bit here and hope that for once we don't get let down by our squaddies.

----------------- Ming ----------
Kelly --- Skrtel -- Toure -- Smith
---------------- Allen
---------- LAR --- Henderson
Moses ----- Sturridge ---- Aspas

Hopefully we'll be able to take off Henderson and Sturridge early in the second half and then give Sakho a run out if he's fit again.

Unfortunately it highlights how little depth we have in midfield because we can't really afford to field anyone bar Henderson if we want to be competitive against a lower league side that will make it hard for us.

Yep I think you're right, we need to give Henderson some rest though, that man is going to burn out. It would be much better for us to go out strong and try and build up a strong lead, and then start resting those players though I guess.

I'm worried about this game, it has the potential to go badly wrong. Despite Bournemouth's lowly position in the Championship they have a very strong midfield which is our weak spot. In Ritchie, Arter, Surman, Pugh and O'Kane they will cause us problems, there are worse midfielders in the Premier League than these guys.

Their main problem is they tend to play one up front, Grabban, and he's very average, also defensively they're not great. I would start a fairly full strength team for this because if we throw in too many kids we could be in trouble. I'd rest Gerrard and leave Cissokho out and bring in Allen and Smith. I'd bring on Aspas for Suarez if we get 2 goals up or ar 1 up with 20 to go.

The Salah links are heating up, I wonder if we could get him sorted quickly enough for this match.

Would be a pleasant surprise if so.

Indeed, they're probably going to play with lots of numbers in the middle, and try and shut our game down, without being too adventurous themselves. They'll probably try and Grabban early goal and then kill off the game this way.

Indeed, I Arter know better.
I could preach to you about the error of your ways but I'm not sure my surman would make any difference.

Don't you fucking dare google any other Bournemouth players names Mystic, this has to stop NOW!

you dont deserve to be in Liverpool youth squad if you cant put a föööcking good performance against a championship side...get the mix of Ibe, Smith, Sterling, Aspas and Alberto...midfield also get someone from U21 side, keep all the aces on bench and use them if required

In an ideal world our reserves should be good enough to beat a Championship side but bar Chelsea and City there is nobody in the Premier League has good enough back up players to risk in an away match to Bournemouth. Championship clubs have already put out Premier League clubs and we'll be next if don't take this game very seriously.

Also, our players have had not had the exertions of European football this season and we were knocked out very early in the Carling Cup so the likes of Sterling, Hendo, Coutinho, Allen, Sturridge etc should not be in any way tired at this stage. This is our main chance of silverware this season.............full strength team please Mr. Rodgers (except for Gerrard and also drop Cissokho).

you know that scoring goals wont be a big problem, just that our guys havent played together so it would take time during the match to gel together and make something happen. The problem which I can see happening is will be to defend, that is where we need strong players. Ibe, Alberto, Sterling and Aspas should be enough to score. I think BR is likely to start Coutinho also.

Coutinho has to play, he needs to find form.

Sterling is too young to burn out imo, so should play.

I'd actually argue Sterling should play rb for at least one half, see if he can do it cos it'd solve a huge problem in the shape of Cissokho.

Suarez shouldn't start he needs a rest. Bring him on with 60 gone to tear the a new one should we need him. If we're winning he shouldn't be in the pitch at all.

Other than that I dunno, cos I'd like to see Henderson rested but we don't have enough midfield cover to allow it sadly.

Couldn't agree more about Coutinho, he's a top player who is having a terrible run of form but sooner or later he'll come good again and hopefully against a suspect defence like Bournemouths.

hmmm...after all he has played there for U21, for this match we can experiment with that but not sure we should do that against a team like everton
