Post Match Bologna (H) - Weds 20:00

Kind of disappointed by that performance. Yes, the result is paramount but by Christ we looked terrified at the end of the first half. Gifting chances like that is a concern, as it's not something we've really seen yet from slot.

You know a broken clock is correct twice a day, don't you?

(For the record, NOT saying that Mo is that clock, just highlighting how one swallow does not a summer make. Again)

I'm definitely saying that people writing Mo off are that clock

Good win. Loads of good performances and especially pleasing that Szobo was excellent.

Difficult to play against that man to man marking system Bologna are set up with, but we dealt with it pretty good.

And those of us who still value him, love him, but also acknowledge that he's not what he used to be, and shouldn't be seen as untouchable anymore..?

I'm not disagreeing with that at all but he's easily still our best forward and by far the most likely player to decide games. Nobody in the squad comes close to that

I don't even think anyone's saying he should be untouchable but reading a lot of takes on here you get a feeling that he's actually turned into the Egyptian Pennant

Arne Slot is the first Liverpool manager in history to have won 8 out of their first 9 games.

Oh fuck it - I'll transfer this across tomorrow.

Ali, VvD, Macca, Gravy, Szobo and Salah all in line for the Motm Top 3. However I'll go :

VvD
Gravy
Salah

Goodnight all ! I should sleep like a baby now.

Twenty minutes in and we were on for a special performance, but then it dwindled and Bologna got into the game. Mildly disappointed we took so long to kill them off.

Ali, Szobo, VVD, Salah and Grav were my pick of players. Trent and Nunez were meh.

Back from the game. Like I said in the MOTM thread, it seemed a physical game which lacked any pace about it. That resulted in a low quality match which is instantly forgettable.

Other than our mad 5 minute spell around 35 minutes, we seemed in utter control.

If you didn’t pick Gravy at MOM you need to go watch another sport. He was so much better than anyone else. His head is constantly swivelling, looking around and looking where to pass or move.

Trent looked bad during their spell had nothing to do as they seemed to attack the opposite side more the second half. Probably because of Robbo’s yellow. Mad to see 4 defenders booked in a single game. Ib and Ali had proper words with each other first half. The passing round from goal kicks annoyed the shit out of me.

Mac flitted in and out. Good to see him score. SoBoss was a stallion. Ran a lot and looks good. Lacked some technical play.

Salah was garbage and still walked away with a goal and an assist. I am thinking he spends too much time getting into these physical battles with the left back. It’s like he invites a wrestle. Whereas Diaz makes that yard then goes down from a touch then wins the foul.

Nunez. Just sell the fucker. The levels we went up when Jota came on was unbelievable. The other subs did well too.

Not playing well, and winning 9-10 games.

Managers Record
GF GA GD - Win %
22 4 +18 --- 90%

Not bad for a team that just lost one of the best managers in world football and replaced with an unknown.
(Even if we still haven't played a top top team)

Munich must be wondering why they let Gravenberch go
Their whole issue was that they need a proper #6 to relieve Kimmich of that duty. So they sell their misfit midfielder Gravenberch to raise funds and spend 2 summers chasing Pahlinha, only for Gravvy to turn into a world-class #6 within a season. Oops!

another for the forget the performance, only the result matters collection
Given some of the other results of this CL day, with several of the “big boys” beaten, I would not downplay the importance of winning this game. Playing against a 1 on 1 pressing team (seems like this tactic is spreading! It used to be only Bielsa’s Leeds who played this way) is always a specific challenge that you need to get used to overcoming and overall I think Bologna were far better than AC Milan, for example. We could have easily dropped points against them with a bit less concentration or luck. Instead, Slot’s Reds are marching on.

Gravy was one again immense - although in this game its hard not to acknowledge that we won due to a great assist from Mo, teeing up an opportunity that no one in the side would miss, and then scoring a belter. We were largely toothless up front aside from those two match defining contributions.

Salah with the type of goal that’s I’ve been told he isn’t capable of anymore and sets up the opening goal too.

For a player who’s clearly not worth a new contract and on the decline he doesn’t half produce more moments that matter than anyone else in the squad.

I wasn't sold on our attack at all. Half could tell what kind of night it was going to be when the ball was fizzed across in the first 3 minutes, szob tried a smart arse finish, and Diaz and Nunez weren't awake to it.

I know we're scoring, but something just isn't clicking and we're not creating as many clear cut chances as last year. I guess that's down to slots ideas focusing more on defensively solid

I watched a bit of Slot post match - he said because they mark man for man the only option was to use Ali and build from the back. Interesting but for my nerves I'm glad most teams don't press like that
