I'm amazed at how many of you have to blame today on somebody or something... Rodgers. Gerrard. Lack of a 'Plan B'. Naivety. Etc...

One of our greatest ever players slipped. That's it. Then, one of the most expensive and defensively disciplined sides ever assembled put 8, often 9, occasionally 10 men behind the ball. As we often proved under GH and under RB, the very best of teams will struggle to beat a team who's only objective is to not concede.

Gerrard didn't 'fuck up'. He slipped. Toure 'fucked up' against WBA. Kompany 'fucked up' against us. Stevie slipped, FFS. And Rodgers isn't 'to blame' - With an already smaller squad then them, weakened by injury and suspension, he did what any manager would / does in those circumstances... Stuck with the team that had created a few chances and looked comfortable until the stroke of halftime, then changed it up after about 65 mins or so. When it works, he's a genius. When you come up against these robots and it doesn't, he's a gobshite..? Sod off.

Last week, Mourinho was a muppet 'cos his strikers couldn't score against relegation fodder, but today he's a genius who's outclassed our man? Me bollix.

I listen to Talk Sport after the game and the first two Collymore caller were fucking morons... Both laying into Rodgers for losing - When Stan asked them why they were focusing only on today and not on the mounu-fucking-mental improvement BR has brought about in us, and on the fact that we can still win the bloody thing, they refused to even acknowledge his question. Twats. He even said to the first caller "You seem to only call after Liverpool lose, mate..."

Sometimes, a really, really bloody good team beats you. It happens. Why the need for a human sacrifice everytime a fucking pass goes astray?!?!? It's been a brilliant season, beyond anybody's wildest dreams... And now, because a team who may well win the European Cup have a fortuitous win against us, some of you turn on the men who have been instrumental in all of the (enormous) good that's happened to us this season? Spare me...

What the fuck is wrong with some of our "supporters"?

In fairness, I haven't seen anyone have a go at Rodgers or Gerrard? Maybe I've missed something, though.

To be fair their was a certain naivety in what happened yesterday, Chelsea had to come at us in order to win, we should have sat and hit them on the break.

That said everything was completely fine until the cruelest mistake ive ever scene in any sport, after that there really was no chance Chelsea would even put foot in our half.

It was a disgusting spectacle watching Mourinho swan up and down in celebration but nonetheless... we shoulda seen it coming and shown a bit of nous.

Blame Stevie or Rodgers?? Get to fuck... theyve been WEVE been mag-fucking-nificent all season im proud as hell of them.

I blame Hendo and that stupid fucking needless tackle.
I blame Lucas for being wank
I blame mannone for letting in that shitty equalizer

I do not blame gerrard or Rodgers

Who's blaming Gerrard? Or Rodgers?

i don't want to blame anyone we simply lost our first game after 11 wins. we were going to lose eventually it is just the nature of it that hurts, because of stevies slip

this is going to hurt for a while and work today is going to be piss take city by the chavs and mancs

I don't blame anyone, the squad looks shattered for giving 1000% this season, I couldn't be any more proud of them.

The good news about working in Co Clare is there are few Chelsea fans, and those that do exist are bigger Munster rugby fans, so I can throw their shit back at them and laugh about Toulon

Blame? I blame Rodgers and the players for a fantastic season that regardless of how the last two games pan out will be one that we'll all look back on as the launching pad of Liverpool back to where we belong.

COME ON YOU REDS

The reality of trying to compete against two of the world's richest clubs really hits home when, needing a goal to keep our destiny in our own hands, we had to bring on Iago Aspas, the Spanish Division 2 journeyman. For a club of our current resources it's an almost impossible task trying to overcome the combined might of City and Chelsea. Even if Rodgers' had magiced up another Countinho signing or had pooled the money he paid on Aspas and Alberto and had signed a proven quality player last summer, we'd have still only had a single player to bring on yesterday who might have made a difference. That's where our title challenge may be lost, not in the captain making a terrible error that cost us the game (Terry did it against Palace, Kompany against us so at best it's just cancelled those out) or Henderson's red card, or Sturridges's untimely injury, it's our lack of strength in depth when up against two billionaire squads.

If we win the title, it'll be a miracle from start to finish. If we don't, at least we have taken some massive steps forward in catching up with our rivals; back in the Champions League, the ground redevelopment making solid progress and our manager looking likely to extend his contract. I'm blocking everything else out and focussing on that until the next round of matches, when the Fifth Horseman of The Apocolypse, Hope, comes calling again.

Been a few posts on Rodgers tactical naivety on here too.

It's right though, I think people are getting a bit too precious about it, he has to just take that one on the chin. No one's saying it suddenly changes what he's achieved this season, but it's not unfair to start pointing out the flaws in our game. If we don't do that as fans we're burying our heads, because we all know what the Achilles heal of this side is, and for Rodgers to start saying he would "never" play that way, well it's all a bit Arsenal, isn't it?

The match thread is full of dopey fuckers going on about plan b or keeping even more possession.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with our tactics yesterday, the limitations of our squad were shown, players were tired, and we have no options on the bench. I have not a single qualm with the club, team or management, we were beaten by an incredibly expensive squad, but we were beaten in a way that would have humiliated so many Chelsea fans, it was pathetic, but downright effective.

I'm not blaming him, but Gerrard did fuck up, it wasn't just a slip. The main problem was him letting the ball run under his foot.

I was saying before the match that Maureen's plan would be the same as I'm their Tottenham game... bore the opposition to death until one of them falls over. For spurs it was Vertongen and us Gerrard.

It's an actual tactic that works. Makes me wanna smoke crack.

We did it against Juventus once. It's a legitimate tactic when you're faced with a superior force.

Now is the time we get behind our team most....

we are still top and who knows if we can beat palace 9-0 like the old days.... stranger things have happened!

I blame all of you jinxing bastards.

To atone for my mistake, I'm dusting off the voodoo doll set for the Everton game. Was reserving it for the CL final next season but I guess this is as good a time as any to use it. Stick a few pins into Kompany and Demichelis - maybe they'll have some mysterious slip and Lukaku can bang in a couple and win it for the hosts.

We knew how they would play it beforehand. But we couldn't work it out or make a break through. I firmly believe that without Stevie's slip we would have got the point we needed. As much as winning the game would have been ace, not losing the game was the priority.
