Re: Birmingham Away

Meireles rarely plays 90 minutes at the best of times

But fucking hell, why is The Cunt starting?

Is that true? I might be getting mixed up with another poster but I thought you hadn't seen much of him?

Re: Birmingham Away

Surely if there's one thing that our experience with 4231 has taught us is that one of the 2 needs to be a good passer of the ball.

Hopefully Gerrard and Torres can rekindle some magic

Re: Birmingham Away

Gerrard seems to be in a rich vein of form at the moment, so hopefully Lucas and Poulsen can remain solid enough to give him and Torres the platform to win us the game.

It's not an easy place to go to, but I think we really need the 3pts even at this early stage.

With that team, I think this has DRAW written all over it. Shame, because if we won we'd zoom up to 5th place. And if we won by three goals, we'd even leapfrog the mighty Blackpool!
I'm banking on Torres bailing us out, he looks sharp and capable of scoring a goal or two out while feeding off scraps.
Torres is fucking shite away from home. You may as well hope for a Skrtel hat trick.

Perhaps this will be reminiscent of the Alonso debut aginst Fulham where he turned around a two goal defecit to win 4-2 when he was introduced at half time

That wasn't his debut.

My error has already been pointed out to me but appart from the debut bit the rest still stands

Re: Birmingham Away

Actually, that was the Norwich game when Stevie was suspended/injured I think. The Fulham game built his reputation further, and the Spurs game confirmed it. Sigh, why am I talking about Xabi?

Re: Birmingham Away

Fucking Lucas AND Poulson?
It's going to be a fucking shit game to watch and we'll be doing very well to get a draw here.
Balls to it.

Re: Birmingham Away

'shite' is a bit strong but torres scores far more at home than away, it's a fact.
owen on the hand (I think) scored more away than he did at home.

Sorry man, I hadn't read on. He was fucking immense when he came on that day. Luckily for me I only saw the second half live (can't remember why). It was capped off nicely with with a cracking goal from Biscan.

The Guardian seem to think Meriles is starting.

Redshrek is never wrong. I hope he is this time though.

Any mention why Meireles isnt playing?
like you don't know

roy didn't want to upset lucas by dropping him. cos then the only explanation he can come out with is the truth, that he's shit. no, it's much easier to leave meireles out because he's new

Re: Birmingham Away

Negative team-selection in my opinion. We are Liverpool after all not Fulham.

Far to defensive-minded for my liking even away from home. Fair enough if Meireles isn't fit to play 90 min but then Gerrard should've been playing in CM with either Babel or Pacheco coming in.

Skrtel ahead of Agger could be an early indication of Roy's preference in defense *shivers* so I'll keep my fingers crossed the the former keeps the pullling of shirts and general hassle in our area to a bare minimum. Otherwise he'll conceede shitloads of penalties this Season.

Re: Birmingham Away

Huge game today. A win would be a real early season boost going into the scum game next week. A loss? we'd all be shitting ourselves going into next week.

A defensive looking line-up from Roy away from home against stubborn opponents. I'd have gone with a bit more adventure against a side who'll go 4-5-1 even at home against the likes of us. I just hope Roy makes some early changes in the second half (Mereiles, Babel, Pacheco) and goes for the win.

Re: Birmingham Away

Maybe Roy is now playing to our game model i.e. playing shit in the first half and a blinder in the second.

Re: Birmingham Away

Meireles was reported to be a bit short on match fitness. Will probably come on for Lucas after 60 mins when we are chasing an equalizer.
