On his day, he is really terrific. But the step up in class between Scotland and England..., hmm, maybe?

Yeah, I've seen him look great at times but if, at the age of 23, the consistency isn't there, you start to wonder whether it ever will be...

How much do you think it'd cost someone to find out?

Would Rafa be prepared to give him regular game time ahead of Kuyt etc? He'd do bloody well to step up without it.

If he'd cost around the 10 mill £ mark, I'd rather sign Turan.

I haven't seen to much of McGeady, but he has got pace. I'd like to sign anyone that can run fast tbh. We're the slowest team in the Premiership.

McGeady can be quite inconsistent at times. I wouldn't be willing to splash out on him at all.

Based on the youtube vid, if we're looking for someone to at least 13 Cruyff turns per game - he's our man.

I'm surprised so many want him rid at that price.

We bought him for 11m.

I think everyone can see he has potential to be worth alot more than 8m.

Yes he has issues but with the right manager we could get so much more out of him.

I would loan him to Brum. If he has a great 2nd half of season we will get better bids than 8M in the summer.

If he has a great season and Rafa leaves in May the new manager can work with him.

If he doesn't have a brilliant run with Brum I still think we can get 6/7m for him easily enough.

So really we are risking very little with a loan move.

Sell him though and if he has a great year or 2 at Brum we will curse ourselves when a big club forks out 15M for in 2 years.

Selling would be another big mistake in my opinion and a gamble we don't need to take.

We can't loan him we need the cash to fund any incoming players.

fantastic technique...

in a piss poor league

Take it in English pounds before they specify Euros. Less than 3 million loss is not too bad at all, considerin his piss poor attitude and lack of showing up.

Of course, the more likely scenario is that he goes to Birmingham, proves beyond reasonable doubt that he is indeed a lazy, shirking cunt with the fighting spirit of a Swiss poodle, and we fail to even make £8m for him. He's done absolutely nothing in the last couple of years to suggest that he's worth equal to or more than we bought him for. £8m is a decent price and if after some gentle persuasion we still can't improve on it, then we should get shot of him immediately.

Do a swap with Birmingham for Benitez

(This works with McLeish/ Rafa and also Christian/ Babel)
Alex McLeish for Liverpool?

Hmmmm...

What has the quality of the league got to do with the quality of McGeady's technique?
I mean you can do it, or you can't. Doesn't matter where you you do it.

McGeady would be good for us, in the short and long term.

You're right to pick up on that comment by Spidey. However, whilst he has a great bag of tricks to make space for himself and beat players- which is not to be sniffed at, it is his shite delivery/shot after he has left about 5 opposition players on their arses that's the problem. Nonetheless, I do think that if the money quoted is right (5m), then he's well worth it. Unfortunately, if we come in for him, Celtic will want more than double that...

I wish Babel lots of luck but it's clear Rafa doesn't rate him and we should get cash while we can. If we loan him out either hoping he'll develop or with an eye towards a move, he'll end up the nextg LeTallec and we'll get 1.fuckall million GBP next summer.

the better the league the less time you will have to do your fancy tricks before someone hacks you down.
queresma has some of the best technique I have seen, what happened to him when he came over here?

Whatever happened to him, he still had/has excellent technique. Unfortunatley for him you need key attributes to make it at the top in football. Things like pace, awareness, drive, mental strength. He obviously lacks the other stuff.

With regard to McGeady and the Scottish League, what you do have up there are guys who will fight and scrap for every ball. Ok the league itself is a bit of a joke right now, but the defenders still know how to crunch into a tackle, even if they do not know how to defend all that well. McGeady has a minimum of 2 players marking him in every Scottish league game. Like Doc says, his final ball is not as good as it should be, but I do think that he can improve that side of his game over time. He is still quite young.

....oh and £8 million cash money for Ryan Babel? Fuck yeah. I'd give the lazy, good for nothing tosspot a jockey back all the way there and keep his tweets updated for the next year just so I never have to see him play for us again. Shithouse.

£8M for Babel would be amazing. He isn't worth anywhere near that let alone the £11M we paid.

I don't care where he goes or who he signs for if it's £8M.

Lets hold out for £12m and get Turan.
I suspect that those two eventualities are not compatible with one another.

But Benitez isn't going to see any of it so pointless holding out for more really.

Perhaps not, yet Gala has valued Turan at £12m, a bargain. Rafa has put a £12m price tag on a marquee signing for rich Arabs.
