"The money received from selling him, regardless of the amount, wouldn't end up in my budget so what's the point."

Like Rafa Im only talking about facts.
Rafa wants him in the squad, that puts to bed the Rafa fanatics claims it was only Babel's choice to stay.

No it doesn't.

Babel refused the offer, therefore it was a non-starter. What do you expect Benitez to say? "Yes, we would have liked him to leave but alas, he wouldn't."

It's in everybody's best interests that he makes Babel sound as important as possible.

Benitez insists there have been no developments with regards to the future of Ryan Babel but has hinted the winger could still leave in January.

The Dutchman has been the subject of a £9million bid from Birmingham, which was rejected by the Reds, while he also risked the fury of his boss with a Twitter outburst.

Babel's agent, Winnie Haatrecht, claimed last week that a move to St Andrews remains a possibility and that an offer was being studied.

Benitez has not divulged any such details, but has implied that he would be willing to listen to offers.

The Spaniard told Liverpool's official website: "We are working with him, he is training with the team normally and we don't have any news.

"Maybe we'll have more news before the end of the transfer window."

If Babel stays again and Rafa doesn't play him....fuck its more than likely you'd all take a bet on it happening.

At this stage, when it comes to Babel, I couldn't five a flying fuck if the fee received is handed straight over to RBS. He has a terrible attitude and his Twitter admission that he will not put his foot in in case he gets injured was the final straw for me.

Shithouse.

Reds reject new Babel bid
Birmingham's latest offer is shunned
Last updated: 29th January 2010

Skysports.com understands Liverpool have rejected a new bid from Birmingham for Ryan Babel.

The Blues have been tracking the Reds winger since the opening of the January transfer window but saw a reported £9 million bid rebuffed by the Merseyside giants at the start of the month.

Liverpool chief Rafael Benitez claimed Babel still had an integral to play at Anfield, but the 23-year-old has made just one substitute appearance since City's offer.

Babel, who announced his displeasure at being left out of a recent Liverpool squad on Twitter before apologising personally to Benitez, was originally not keen on a move to St Andrews.

But the player's agent has since revealed the Dutch international had a change of heart, with the World Cup on the horizon, but it appears Alex McLeish's latest bid to lure the former Ajax star to the West Midlands has been shunned.

Ongoing
Blues could still bring Aruna Dindane to the Second City, however, despite reports that the deal has fallen through.

Dindane was in Birmingham on Friday after the Blues agreed a £4 million deal for the Ivory Coast marksman but the move was believed to have broken down due to the player's demands.

But skysports.com understands a deal for the Lens striker - on loan at Portsmouth - is not completely dead in the water and talks are still ongoing.

City are remain confident on signing Roman Pavlyuchenko despite seeing a substantial offer turned down by Tottenham on Friday

The Russian striker appears to be McLeish's number one target before Monday's deadline

The Babel situation has been strange for a very long time.

Promising first season, frozen out second, never used this year. And now we're rejecting bids like he's a key player.

That said, I'd rather Babel stayed then a new RB arrives!

If anything, I would imagine the owners are looking for full payment up front rather than in stages.

He'll be gone on monday.

Babel is apparently livid on Twitter. Somebody made a joke and posted "RT @RyanBabel I'm coming on" during the game.

LOL
