Arguably should have scored tonight, but he's been much improved in the last few weeks.

The signs are there that he's a bit fitter, sharper and might not turn out to be a complete disaster signing.

Won pretty much everything, good work rate, looks quicker also.

Should have scored though 🙁

Keep it up Andy (but start scoring, thanks)

Yeh, he might not actually be terrible. Still sloppy though he needs work but could turn out aite I guess.

should have scored but I'm really impressed with him these days.
he is winning everything in the air, we need to learn to anticipate where the ball is going to drop

Yep, good work rate. If he gets his shit together we'll only have to hope for a miracle regarding Downing.

I'm so looking forward to watching Andy winning loads of aimless balls in the air for the rest of the season

He looks like he's making more of an effort, most importantly, he making runs, closing defenders down from the front, and seems to have gained a yard of pace. We need to make sure we keep starting him and back him.

I believe in you, Andy.

Yup

It'd be nice if people gambled on the flick ons

He was very good.

We really need someone to start scoring though.

If he wins them then how are they "aimless"? Isn't the aim of them for him to win them?
[/quote]

Surely the aim is for something to come of them

A goal tonight and he would have been man of the match by a mile.

Comfortably

I don't fucking want to play like that particularly anyway.

I'm glad he's trying now, it's not so pathetic, but it's weird to me that he gets any credit after a game which exemplified how unproductive he is in our side.

You can hope that he'll get better delivery and movement around him, but it's just not happening, so I'd much rather have a player who has more creativity and movement himself.

The things he does, now that he's got a bit of form, are actually less effective than when Crouch played for us, and we thought we overpaid then, so why have our expectations of a liverpool forward become so low. If his only job is to be a physical presence getting flick ons and winning the ball high up the pitch, then we are playing shit football, and he doesn't retain posession that well. If his only job is to finish chances, he should finish them. And he doesn't.

I thought the last couple of games he has been retaining possession a lot better and that has been the major improvement really. That, 2 assists and a goal in last 4 games.

it isn't about playing a long ball game it's about having many avenues of attack be it through the middle, down the flanks or between the lines. carrol shouldn't mean we send it long for the flick it should me we can bully the opposition in and around there own penalty box. chelsea won league titles with this tactic.

I thought he was brilliant tonight. The movement off of him was poor but he was exceptional.
He really should have scored though.

Yea, you are right, Carroll is everything I want out of a Liverpool forward. A goal every five or six games, and the ability to pair well with one of the best attacking passers in our team, Reina.

He was ok today, nothing more nothing less. Ok for him over the last few games, now that he's actually bothering, is a significant improvement, I'll agree with that, but I hope he doesn't think he's accomplished anything, and he needs to work as hard as possible to compete.

Yep.

It's great that he's trying now, but he really should have been doing that from the start. There's still a pretty obvious lack of ability, although he's not alone there.

Our problem all season has been mobility

We're so fucking static I want to rip my balls off

Yeah.

Cause Drogba could play

Carroll wins more headers than anyone else, defenders included, in this league.

We don't take advantage of this. That's our fault, not his.
