[article="http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37125194"]
Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with Liverpool to sign Belgium striker Christian Benteke.
The clubs have agreed a fee of £27m plus add-ons that could see the deal rise to above £30m.

Christian Benteke is finally on his way to Crystal Palace who have agreed a £32m package with Liverpool. £27m up front with £5m in add ons.

Unlike the offer for Benteke on Tuesday, this one includes add-ons which are both realistic and achievable. #LFC

[article=http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/sunderland-everton-fight-out-christian-8556400]According to Mirror, Premier League clubs Everton and Sunderland set to fight for £30m-rated Christian Benteke signature this month.

The Black Cats have made a striker top priority as they look to strengthen the attack ahead of new season.

Meanwhile the local rivals Everton will look to replace want-away striker Romelu Lukaku with a similar strike-force and they have targeted the 25-year-old as his replacement.

Lukaku has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea, and Everton are currently awaiting if the Londoners will meet their demands.

Few weeks ago Crystal Palace came with a good offer for the Belgian international, they even offered to pay his £120,000-a-week wages, but according to the reports they failed to meet £30million asking price set by Liverpool.

The Merseyside club are adamant they won't sell the striker until they recoup the £32.5million they spend to sign him from Aston Villa last summer.

New Sunderland manager David Moyes in a latest interview claimed he is willing to spend money in a striker to partner Jermain Defoe.

“There’s no doubt we have to make signings and I believe we definitely will do.

“We were never off the phone last week. It was constant apart from the training to see what we could do. It was more to get the information before we made any actions.

“I think it’s well documented that we’ve only got one centre-forward really in Jermain Defoe – we’ve got others who can do the job at other times. But I would like to strengthen in most areas if it comes up.”[/Article]

I think Barkley over-rated. He appears to be like our SG but lacks the brain.
Of course he's overrated but he's still a damn good player and I think he'd be better than some of the options we already have.

I'd even be willing to give them £20 million plus Benteke for Barkley.
What has Barkley done to be worth £55m which is basically what you're saying he's worth? If anything it would be a straight swap at best. He's big time overrated and has stagnated over the last couple of years hence why no club has been in for him like they were a couple of years ago. I expected him to push on by now.

What did Sterling do to be worth £50m? I agree it's extortionate, but that's the going rate. Barkley has got more potential than Sterling and Raheem put together.

I don't set the prices. What has Sterling done to be worth 50 mill?
Still believe the kid can be world class with the right guidance.
He's being wasted at Everton.
Still only 22.

There is no point even discussing it as Everton would never sell to us.
As for Benteke, I'd sell him to Sunderland.

I like Barkley too, but I still can't see that transfer happening. He seems too much like Rooney, in that such a move would be unpalatable for him, the club and the fans.

As for Benteke going the other way, that does seem a possibility, although I'd much prefer he went elsewhere.

Benteke to Everton who'll have the cash from the sale of Lakakaku, leaving Sunderland to enquire about Balotelli on a loan deal.

City could afford it as its a just a drop in the ocean to them. We on the other hand can't throw around that money unless its someone REALLY special and Barkley isn't that player IMO.

Isn't Barkley a closet red? I say that because there is nothing about his supporting Everton that's ever been written about him. I like him but we seem well-stocked in that department.

He's 100% staying... we would have sold him by now.

I hope that isn't the case as he too much of saleable asset to be benched all season, and he is a good player. But I do worry about Balotelli, I can see us being stuck with him as there doesn't seem to be be any interest at all. Possibly the same with Lucas and Markovic.

Should have sold him to palace when we had the opportunity

Hopefully Palace will be back with an improved bid. WBA just got bought over by some Chinese i believe and it could scupper Palace's chances of getting Berahino.

Here's hoping anyway.
