[article=http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/sunderland-everton-fight-out-christian-8556400]According to Mirror, Premier League clubs Everton and Sunderland set to fight for £30m-rated Christian Benteke signature this month.
The Black Cats have made a striker top priority as they look to strengthen the attack ahead of new season.
Meanwhile the local rivals Everton will look to replace want-away striker Romelu Lukaku with a similar strike-force and they have targeted the 25-year-old as his replacement.
Lukaku has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea, and Everton are currently awaiting if the Londoners will meet their demands.
Few weeks ago Crystal Palace came with a good offer for the Belgian international, they even offered to pay his £120,000-a-week wages, but according to the reports they failed to meet £30million asking price set by Liverpool.
The Merseyside club are adamant they won't sell the striker until they recoup the £32.5million they spend to sign him from Aston Villa last summer.
New Sunderland manager David Moyes in a latest interview claimed he is willing to spend money in a striker to partner Jermain Defoe.
“There’s no doubt we have to make signings and I believe we definitely will do.
“We were never off the phone last week. It was constant apart from the training to see what we could do. It was more to get the information before we made any actions.
“I think it’s well documented that we’ve only got one centre-forward really in Jermain Defoe – we’ve got others who can do the job at other times. But I would like to strengthen in most areas if it comes up.”[/Article]
